Jiaxing 嘉兴 is one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta and approved by The State Council as a tourist city with the characteristics of Jiangnan water town in China
Jiaxing is located in the hinterland of hang-Jia-Hu Plain of The Yangtze River Delta长江三角洲杭嘉湖平原, northeast of Zhejiang Province, and at the intersection of rivers, lakes, and seas. As the throat of the Southern Taihu Corridor南太湖走廊, Jiaxing is an urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta, an important city in the Shanghai Metropolitan circle, a core city in the Greater Bay Area of Zhejiang Province, and a sub-central city in the Hangzhou metropolitan circle.
As of 2019, the city has jurisdiction over 2 districts, 2 counties, and 3 county-level cities. By the end of 2021, the permanent population of Jiaxing was 5,516,000. In 2021, Jiaxing’s GDP reached 635.528 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5% over the previous year.
