沈约
吏部[1]信才杰，
文峰[2]振奇响。
调与金石[3]谐[4]，
思[5]逐风云上。
岂言陵霜质[6]，
忽随人事[7]往。
尺璧[8]尔何冤，
一旦同丘壤。
注释：
[1] 吏部：指谢朓。谢朓曾为尚书吏部郎。
[2] 文峰：词峰。峰，一作“锋”。
[3] 金石：指钟磬等乐器。
[4] 谐：和谐。
[5] 思：才思。
[6] 陵霜质：指谢朓不畏强暴的品质。
[7] 事：指新陈代谢、生死存亡的现象。
[8] 尺璧：径尺之璧。
Lament for Xie Tiao[1]
Shen Yue
Of all the talents the most bright,
His verse vibrated on the height.
As ringing bells his voice was loud;
His thought climbed the wind to the cloud.
Like pine-trees not afraid of frost,
In this unjust world he was lost.
Although his head was laurel-crowned,
He’s buried now in the grave mound.
