Can boundless grief be drowned in spring wine?
My boat tossed by waves high,
Streamers of wineshop fly.
The Farewell Ferry and the Beauty’s Bridge would pine:
Wind blows from hour to hour;
Rain falls shower by shower.
When may I go home to wash my old robe outworn,
To play on silver lute
And burn the incense mute?
Oh, time and tide will not wait for a man forlorn:
With cherry red spring dies,
When green banana sighs.

《一剪梅·舟过吴江》是宋末词人蒋捷乘船经过吴江县时所作的一首词。上片起句既交代了时序，又点出“春愁”的主旨，表现出词人连绵不断的愁思。下片将自己羁旅在外的思归之情上升为对年华易逝的感叹，表达了词人对家乡的无尽思念之情。全词以首句的“春愁”为核心，用“点”“染”结合的手法，选取典型景物和情景层层渲染，写出了词人伤春的情绪及久客异乡思归的情绪。
“A Twig of Mume Blossoms · My Boat Passing by Southern River ” is a lyric written by Jiang Jie at the end of Song Dynasty when he was passing Wujiang County by boat. The first line of the first piece gives an account of the time of the year and also points out the main theme of “spring sorrow”, showing the lyricist’s continuous sorrowful thoughts. The next stanza elevates his longing for his hometown to a lament about the passing of years, expressing the lyricist’s endless longing for his hometown. The whole lyric is centered on “spring sorrow” in the first line, using a combination of “pointing” and “dyeing”, selecting typical scenes and situations and rendering them layer by layer to express the lyricist’s sadness for spring and his longing to return home.
