满城烟水月微茫[2]，
人倚兰舟[3]唱。
常记相逢若耶[4]上，
隔三湘[5]，
碧云望断空惆怅。
美人笑道，
莲花相似，
情短藕丝[6]长。
注释：
[1]小桃红：越调曲调，又名“武陵春”“采莲曲”“绛桃春”。
[2]“满城”句：水乡月夜的景色一片朦胧。微茫：隐约，模糊。
[3]兰舟：对采莲舟的美称，不一定是用质地坚硬而芳香的木兰制作的船。
[4]若耶：若耶溪，又名浣纱溪，相传是西施浣纱之地。
[5]三湘：指湘水与另外三支河流汇合而成的三段江流，一是上游与漓江汇合成的漓湘，二是中游与潇水汇合成的潇湘，三是下游与蒸水汇合成的蒸湘。
[6]丝：与“思”构成谐音双关。

The dimming moon o’er mist-veiled town and water looms.
The beauty in orchid boat sings her dream.
I oft remember our meeting on silk-washing stream.
Now severed by three rivers long,
In vain through clouds into the azure sky I gaze.
Smiling, the beauty says,
“Our hearts are like the lotus blooms:
Their root may snap, their fibres join like my song.”

采莲湖上棹船回，
风约[1]湘裙翠。
一曲琵琶数行泪，
望君归，
芙蓉开尽无消息。
晚凉多少，
红鸳白鹭，
何处不双飞！

Having gathered the lotus on the lake, she rows
On homeward way, her green skirt ripples when wind blows.
A song of pipa brings down tear on tear;

《小桃红·采莲女》是金末元初散曲作家杨果创作的一组散曲。此组曲抒写采莲女的生活和爱情，格调清新可喜。第一首曲子细致地描摹了采莲女的美貌，第二首曲子塑造了一个容貌华丽的采莲女的形象，第三首曲子从采莲女的角度抒发了对心上人既思念又怨恨的复杂心情。前两曲似是男对女唱，后一曲似是女唱。
“Tune: Red Peach Blossoms · The Lotus Gatherer” is a group of loose songs composed by Yang Guo, a writer of loose songs in the late Jin and early Yuan dynasties. This group of songs is about the life and love of a lotus-collecting girl, and the tone is fresh and delightful. The first piece meticulously depicts the beauty of the lotus-collecting girl, the second piece creates the image of a gorgeous-looking lotus-collecting girl, and the third piece expresses the complex feelings of both longing and resentment towards her beloved from the perspective of the lotus-collecting girl. The first two songs seem to be sung by a man to a woman, while the latter one seems to be sung by a woman.
