Chengdu University of Technology was founded on March 15, 1956. In September 2017, the school entered the ranks of national first-class discipline construction universities. On December 26, 2019, our school became a “double first-class” construction university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Sichuan Province.The school has two campuses in Chengdu and Yibin. The school headquarters is located in the main urban area of Chengdu, with a superior geographical location, covering an area of 2,887 acres and a school building area of 970,000 square meters. Yibin campus is located in Sanjiang New District, Yibin City, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a beautiful environment, covering an area of 1,000 acres and a planned building area of 430,000 square meters. The school currently has 36,388 full-time students, including 30,392 undergraduates, 5996 full-time postgraduates, and 119 part-time postgraduates. The school has a total of 20 teaching colleges, 1 sedimentary geology institute, and 1 geological survey institute. There is also an independent college (School of Engineering and Technology, Chengdu University of Technology).
The school has 74 undergraduate enrollment majors, including 15 national-level first-class majors, 8 national-level characteristic majors, 4 national-level comprehensive professional reform projects, 38 provincial-level first-class majors, 12 provincial-level characteristic majors, and comprehensive provincial-level majors. There are 13 reform pilot projects, 1 provincial-level “Curriculum Ideological and Political” demonstration major, and 4 provincial-level applied demonstration majors; the school is a university of the Ministry of Education “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program”, including the national “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” 7 pilot majors (including independent enrollment direction), 19 pilot majors of the provincial “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program”, 1 pilot major of the provincial “Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Program”, and provincial “Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Program” 1 pilot major and 1 pilot major of the provincial “Excellent Journalism and Communication Talent Education and Training Plan”. The school has 7 first-level discipline doctorate authorization points and 22 first-level discipline master degree authorization points. The disciplines cover 10 disciplines including science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law, philosophy, agriculture, education, and art. There are 1 first-level national key discipline (geological resources and geological engineering), 3 second-level national key disciplines (geological engineering, mineral survey and exploration, earth exploration and information technology), and 1 national key (cultivation) discipline (mineralogy) , Petrology, mineral deposits), 14 provincial key disciplines (applied chemistry, environmental engineering, solid geophysics, geotechnical engineering, paleontology and stratigraphy (including paleoanthropology), signal and information processing, structural geology , Geochemistry, Oil and Gas Field Development Engineering, Quaternary Geology, Materials Science, Nuclear Technology and Application, Management Science and Engineering, Mineralogy, Petrology, Mineral Deposit Science), 1 provincial key (cultivation) discipline (applied mathematics) . The school has 3,608 faculty members, including 442 professors (level) and 776 associate professors (level). Academician Liu Baojun of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was specially appointed as the honorary president. There are 58 high-end experts (academicians) in flexible intelligence introduction. The school attaches great importance to foreign exchanges and cooperation. It has established long-term industry-university-research cooperation relations with large national enterprises and scientific research institutes in the fields of resources, energy, environment, construction, military industry, and high-tech. It has established exchanges and cooperation relationships with more than 60 universities and scientific research institutions in the United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Italy and other countries. Currently, 4 Sino-foreign cooperative education projects are held with the United Kingdom’s Staffordshire University and Oxford Brookes University. In 2019, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution, Oxford Brookes College, Chengdu University of Technology. It has received more than 2,800 foreign experts and international students from more than 40 countries and regions to give lectures and study abroad, more than 700 visits, more than 300 scientific research cooperations, and many international academic conferences.
The school has been awarded the honorary title of “Advanced Collective for Employment of College Graduates in Sichuan Province” and was selected as one of the top 50 universities in the country with typical employment experience for graduates in 2011-2012. In 2016, the school was approved as Sichuan Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Club and Sichuan Province Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform Demonstration University. In 2017, the school was rated as a national model university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. In 2018, the school was selected as one of the top 50 universities in the country with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship in 2018.
So far, the school has trained nearly 210,000 outstanding talents for the society.
