About Chongqing College of Mobile Communication

Chongqing College of Mobile Communication (formerly known as College of Mobile Telecommunications, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and hereafter referred to as the college), founded in 2000, is a full-time regular undergraduate college ratified by the Ministry of Education, supervised by Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and entitled to enrol students nationwide.

The college runs two campuses, located respectively in Hechuan district, an important strategic fulcrum city in the new urban area of Chongqing, and Qijiang district, Chongqing’s West Information Security Valley in the new urban area of Chongqing. Hechuan campus, located in the university town of Hechuan District andembraced by mountains and rivers, is blessed with beautiful environment and convenient transportation,40 minutes’ drive from the downtown of Chongqing and 5 minutes’ drive from Hechuan Central Business Street and Jinyue Business. Qijiang campus, located in the Eastern New City of Qijiang district and surrounded by towering Ancient Sword Mountain and beautiful Qihe River, is one of the most distinctive Landscape and Garden Style University in China, 40 minutes’ drive from the downtown of Chongqing, 15 minutes’ drive from Qijiang East Railway Station, and only 5 minutes’ drive from Qijiang Passenger Transport Center.

Subordinate to the college are 12 secondary colleges including Communication and Information Engineering College, Intelligent Engineering College, College of Big Data and Computer Science, Quench Business College, College of Digital Economy and Information Management, College of Art and Media, Foreign Languages College, German Institute of Engineering, Information Security College, College of Drama, Film and Television, College of Health Management, and Prospect College. Offered by the college are 44 undergraduate majors including Communication Engineering, Rail Transit and Signal Control, Financial Management, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation (sino foreign cooperation), Electrical Engineering and Automation (sino foreign cooperation), Internet Finance, Software Engineering and 4 junior college majors such as Communication Technology, Industrial and Commercial Enterprise Management, combining to form a disciplinary system where engineering is valued as its priority while economics, management, literature and arts feature interdisciplinary integration and coordinated development. Currently, the college has a total of approximately 28,000 students.

In adherence to the school motto of “Devotion to Teaching and Learning, Encouragement for Creativity and Entrepreneurship”, the college is committed to building a first-class application-oriented university in central and western China, and becoming the most respected unique undergraduate university nationwide, with new engineering as the main body and electronic information as the advantage.

Taking Information Industry Business College as its overall school-running orientation, and with students’ all-round development as its central goal, the college has innovatively constructed the “Four in One（well-rounded education X general education X business education X specialty education）+ Double College System（life in residential college X specialized study in college）” talent training model, aiming to cultivate high-quality applied management talents of technical skill type, with solid basic knowledge in natural science, humanities and social science, with strong comprehensive quality, international vision, strong innovative and hands-on practice ability, and competitive edge.

The college has its distinctive school-running characteristics and effective talent-training measures. The unique talent training system of “Four in One + Double College System”is explored, where clusters of majors for “new engineering” and “new business” are scientifically and reasonably structured, where “well-rounded education” serves as a large platform for innovative quality education with the four sections as community activity, volunteer service, competitive sports, art appreciation and practice, and where “general education” provides a curriculum system integrating civic awareness, global vision, humanistic care, scientific spirit, artistic creation and aesthetic taste. Such unique educational programs as Creative Writing College, Double-system Talent Training Base, Quench Business Leadership Training Camp, and Entrepreneurship College are launched and are now recognized as a mature brand, leading the west. Such locally based departments as Fishing Castle Science Fiction Center, Fishing Castle Research Institute, Fishing Castle History and Culture Museum, Fishing Castle Urbanization Research Institute are established, integrating talent training with local need. Such unique initiatives as Expert Forum & Master Classroom inviting experts of authority and celebrities from various fields at home and abroad to offer lectures to students school wide, Prospect College innovatively building a boarding College of Arts and Sciences by drawing on foreign advanced educational model, Unique Paintings Cinema, Light and Shadow School, Quality Development Training, Chongqing College Students Film Review Competition, University Town and Fishing Castle International Music Festival, Sino-German International Education Forum, and Labor Education have all become the business card of the college and is spreading far-reaching influence.

The college implements the concept of Residential College, and has established an initially mature residential college education system, with 13 such colleges now in operation, 3 featuring specialty, 9 community culture, and 1 liberal arts. As a community-based educational platform characterized by interaction and sharing, the residential college system serves to underpin the college’s positioning of Information Industry Business College, and with family culture creation and leadership cultivation as its dual cores, the residential college system lends assistance to the promotion of “management through service, learning through living, and education through community”, and builds for students new circles where they share as community members and mutually help as peers.

The college has been insistently carrying out its internationalization strategy. Since putting into place the Sino-German Institute of Applied Technology cosponsored by Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Germany, the college has signed collaborative agreements with 10-odd universities from Germany and the United States, co-running graduate and double degree undergraduate programs, has up to now sent 900 students abroad for further study, and presently has over 1700 students in store preparing for their planned study in Germany. In 2019, the third Sino-German International Education Forum was successfully held in the college with an attendance from 10-odd German and 60-odd domestic universities, greatly promoting the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and German universities. Four engineering disciplines, including Communication Engineering, have passed the certification of ASIIN and the European Engineer Program (EUR-ACE Bachelor), the only college of its kind in China.

The college has achieved outstanding results in its distinctive school running. Its students have earned in recent years 1010 awards in various provincial/ministerial (municipal) or above level discipline competitions, including111 nationalawards, and 899 provincial/ministerial (municipal) awards. Of the 111 national awards are 30 national first and special prizes, such as special prize of “2019 China Engineering Robot Competition and International Open”, and first prize of “12th‘Siemens Cup’ China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge National Final”; 31 national second prizes, 40 national third prizes and 10 national excellence prizes. Of the 899 provincial/ministerial (municipal) awards are 63 first prizes, 150 second prizes, 170 third prizes, and 516 excellence prizes. Its faculty have in possession 36 patents, have been undertaking, in the past five years, 129 teaching and research projects at or above the municipal level, have published 757 papers and 221 monographs/textbooks, including 159 papers in core journals, and 12 papers retrieved by SCI and EI.

The college boasts justified talent training quality. Recent years’ employment rate of the graduates has been maintaining above95%, a rate that ranks the college in the forefront of Chinese universities of the same kind. Of its graduates totaling about 50,000, most are employed in counterpart posts, matching their specialties and distributed mainly in industries as communication, manufacturing, and software development, etc., of whom 10% in world or China’s top 500 enterprises, and more than 60% in information industry , Chongqing’s first pillar of economy. Up tonow, the college has signed a total of 360 cooperation agreements with enterprises, organizations and schools, and is carrying out “co-construction and co-education” programs with 89 off-campus internship bases including Chongqing Telecom, Chongqing Mobile, ZTE, Huawei, HP, Chang’an, Silian, Nanfang Securities, Xiyong Micro Electronics Park, and others.
