About Chongqing Vocational and Technical University of Mechatronics

Chongqing Vocational and Technical University of Mechatronics (school identification code: 4150012607), formerly known as Chongqing Ordnance Industrial Staff University, is composed of eight vocational universities, including Chang’an, Jiangling, Jialing, Jianshe, Changjiang, Wangjiang, CRRC, and Luhua. In 2003, full-time ordinary institutions of higher learning were established on the basis of Chongqing Military Industry Vocational University. On May 27, 2019, the Ministry of Education officially approved Chongqing Electromechanical Vocational and Technical College (undergraduate) to be renamed as “Chongqing Electromechanical Vocational and Technical University” (JFH [2019] No. 36), becoming one of the first batch of pilot universities for undergraduate vocational education in China, and recruiting undergraduate students nationwide from 2019.

The University is located in Bishan, a new area in the west of Chongqing, covering an area of 948 mu and a building area of 300000 square meters. The campus is reasonably planned, built along the mountain, with elegant environment, beautiful scenery, magnificent building momentum, complete teaching facilities, a large-scale training center, student dormitories, sports venues, and life service centers. It is a high-quality campus suitable for living, doing, and learning. In the 50 years of running the school, the school has gradually formed the school running characteristics of “originating from military industry, military school integration, and serving national defense”, “docking industry, intelligent manufacturing, and prominent advantages”, “school enterprise cooperation, industry education integration, and collaborative education”. It has successively won the titles of “National Top Ten Characteristic Vocational Schools”, “National Top 100 Vocational Colleges for Employment”, “National Demonstration Unit for Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, “National Advanced Unit for School Enterprise Cooperation” and “National Advanced Unit for National Defense Education”. The school is the first PLA oriented training non commissioned officer college in Chongqing, the standing director unit of the China Military Culture Research Association, the vice chairman unit of the Military Security Industry Alliance, and the national training base for highly skilled talents.

The University now has 17 professional undergraduate majors, including mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, material forming and control engineering, automotive engineering technology, electrical engineering and automation, Internet of Things engineering, intelligent manufacturing engineering, big data technology and application, automotive service engineering, project cost, logistics management, and preschool education. In addition, 47 specialties are set up, including mechanical design and manufacturing, numerical control technology, electromechanical integration technology, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, automobile assembly technology, construction engineering, accounting, etc. The experimental training center of the university consists of a mechanical engineering center, a Sino German automotive engineering center, an intelligent manufacturing engineering center, a collaborative innovation center for production and teaching integration, and a virtual simulation teaching training center. It has three central financial support training bases, 125 internal and external practice and training bases, including 66 external post practice bases. The school’s collection of paper books and electronic books totals nearly 1.951 million.

The University has 958 teaching staff, including 820 full-time teachers. There are 249 full-time teachers with professional and technical titles of deputy high and above, accounting for 30.37% of full-time teachers; There are 433 full-time teachers with graduate degrees, accounting for 52.8% of full-time teachers. There are 12 schools under the school, including Mechanical Engineering College, Vehicle and Transportation College, Electrical and Electronic Engineering College, Information Engineering College, Architectural Engineering College, Business Administration College, Art College, General Education College, Petty Officer College, Child Development and Health Management College, Digital Art College, and Marxism College. There are 19204 college and undergraduate students.

The University actively responded to the call of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to “deepen the integration of industry and education, school enterprise cooperation”, and opened up a collaborative education platform for governments, industries, enterprises, and schools. The school has realized diversified school enterprise cooperation through “joint customized training program”, “cooperative development of professional courses”, “joint construction of teaching team”, “joint construction of training base”, “order training”, “industry university research exchange” and other ways. It has cooperated with more than 200 enterprises, including Port Group, BOE, Chang’an, Changjiang Electrician, Dongfeng Xiaokang, Zhongqi Southwest, BYD, CRRC Hengtong, Xinlong Lake, etc., involving state-owned enterprises, central enterprises, military enterprises, private enterprises, Sino foreign joint ventures and other types of enterprises. In the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has reached 98%.

The successful upgrading of the University, the deepening of the national vocational education reform, and the implementation of the enrollment expansion plan in higher vocational education have created huge development opportunities for the school and ushered in a better future and prospects for the school.
