About Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Technology

College is a full-time public general college of higher learning approved by Guangdong Provincial People’s Government in 1985 and filed by the Ministry of Education. At the beginning of its establishment, the college was named Guangdong Science and Technology Cadre Continuing Education College, which was mainly responsible for the continuing education and training of Guangdong science and technology management cadres, and was praised as “a pearl of local continuing education” by the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 1989, it was renamed Guangdong Science and Technology Cadre College, and in 1996, it became one of the first colleges to hold general higher vocational education in Guangdong Province. In 2001, he cooperated with Zhuhai Municipal Government to build Zhuhai Campus. In 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was transformed from an adult college into an ordinary college of higher learning, and continued to undertake the task of training scientific and technological cadres. In May 2008, the college was transferred from the Science and Technology Department of Guangdong Province to the Education Department of Guangdong Province.In December, 2008, the college passed the evaluation of talent training in higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education with “excellent” results. In 2010, he was awarded the glorious title of “Advanced Collective of Vocational and Technical Education in Guangdong Province” by Guangdong Provincial Government. In 2010, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the project construction unit of national demonstration backbone higher vocational colleges. In March 2016, he passed the acceptance test with “good” results and became a national demonstration backbone vocational college. In July 2016, it was identified by Guangdong Science and Technology Department as the provincial “internet plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration School. In November, 2016, it was identified by Guangdong Provincial Department of Education as the project construction unit of first-class higher vocational colleges. In July, 2019, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as “National Quality College”. In October, 2019, it was publicized by the Ministry of Education as “the construction unit of high-level higher vocational professional groups with Chinese characteristics”. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, it was selected as one of the top 50 service contributions of national higher vocational colleges for three consecutive years. In 2018, it was selected as one of the top 50 teaching resources in higher vocational colleges nationwide. In 2019, he was selected as one of the top 50 educational achievements in higher vocational colleges nationwide. In 2016, it was awarded the honorary title of “National Demonstration School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Vocational Colleges” by the Organizing Committee of International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo.

The College has two campuses, Zhuhai and Guangzhou, with a campus area of 2012 mu and a building area of 530,600 ㎡ (including the construction in progress: 42,800 ㎡) (including: 30,900 classrooms, 30,500 libraries, 09,800 stadiums and 155,500 practice places). There are 21,600 sets of teaching instruments and equipment, and the value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment is 255,433,400 yuan. There are 1,559,200 books in the library collection and 7866GB of digital resources of e-books.

The university has more than 1300 teaching staff, including 75 full senior titles, 325 associate senior titles, 109 doctor’s degrees, 843 master’s degrees. The proportion of full-time teachers of specialized courses is 90.66%. The school has 1 national advanced group of education system, 1 national “double professional” teacher training base, 1 national skill master studio, 3 national teacher teaching team, 5 national outstanding teachers such as National Technical expert and Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award Outstanding teacher. There are 13 provincial-level teacher team projects such as provincial teaching team, provincial “Double-qualified” teacher training base, 54 provincial-level masters and craftsmen such as provincial special support plan teachers, May 1 Labor Medal winners, Southern Guangdong outstanding teachers, technical experts, high-level part-time teachers, and 6 municipal talents such as Zhuhai special scholars and technical experts.

With more than 30,000 full-time students, the college is the largest provincial vocational college with students. At present, there are 17 secondary colleges, including Computer Engineering Technology College (Artificial Intelligence College), Business School, Applied Foreign Languages College, Tourism College, Culture and Media College, Robotics College, Automotive Engineering College, Architectural Engineering College, Art and Design College, Accounting and Finance College, Sports Health College, Internet of Things College, Management Engineering College, Marxism College, International Cooperation College, Innovation and Entrepreneurship College and Continuing Education College. There are 5 scientific research institutions including Guangdong Institute of Talents, Institute of Higher Vocational Education, Institute of Electronics and Information Technology and Institute of Soft Science.

There are 57 enrollment majors in the college, including 1 high-level vocational specialty group with Chinese characteristics, 11 national backbone majors, 5 key construction majors in national backbone vocational colleges, 2 construction majors supported by the central government, 5 provincial demonstration majors, 6 provincial key construction majors, 3 provincial first-class brand majors, 14 provincial second-class brand majors and 1 dominant discipline in Zhuhai. There are 12 majors in modern apprenticeship training. There are 4 national excellent resource sharing courses, 5 national excellent courses, 5 provincial excellent courses, 22 provincial excellent resource sharing courses, 3 provincial excellent online open courses and 1 national professional teaching resource library. Won 27 national and provincial teaching achievement awards.

Strengthen school-enterprise cooperation in running schools, actively build a talent training mode of “precise connection between schools and enterprises and precise education”, and take industrial colleges, project classes, order classes and modern apprenticeship as important measures to promote the integration of production and education and “double precision” education, and cooperate with Huawei, Lenovo, Kingsoft, Microsoft China, Apple and Cisco.

The College attaches importance to Industry-University-Research cooperation, application development and achievement transformation, encourages teachers to participate in enterprise technology research and development, provides technical services, and strives to serve local economic and social development. In the past three years, the amount of various scientific research and social services of the school has reached more than 50 million yuan, and it has won one national social science fund project for the first time, and has identified one national space for mass creation, one national studio and one provincial service demonstration platform for small and medium-sized enterprises; A provincial-level professional creative space, 31 collaborative innovation and collaborative education platforms (including 5 at or above the provincial level), 10 high-level technical service teams and more than 58,400 person-days of social training have been built, providing effective support for the construction of innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration cities (districts and counties) in Guangdong Province.

The college has more than 70 on-campus training bases, more than 240 training rooms and more than 800 off-campus practice training bases. Four training bases supported by the central government, six provincial higher vocational education training bases, six provincial off-campus practice teaching bases for college students, two provincial public training centers, one key laboratory in Zhuhai and one public laboratory in Zhuhai have been built. It is a “National Spark Training Base”, “Guangdong Science and Technology Talent Base”, “Guangdong Vocational College Teacher Continuing Education Base” and “Guangdong Professional and Technical Personnel Continuing Education Base” recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Provincial Science and Technology Department, Education Department and Personnel Department.

The college actively serves the construction of the country “the belt and road initiative” and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and newly established an international cooperation college with nearly 500 students. Two groups of students went to France for further study, and successively signed cooperation agreements with Claremont Business School of France, Dresden Technical University of Germany, University of North Michigan of the United States, Curtin University of Australia, City University of Malaysia, etc. More than 20% of professional construction is in line with international standards. In 2017, the school obtained the qualification of enrolling international students, and international students with two academic qualifications have enrolled in relevant majors. In 2019, the Sino-French cooperation in running schools was officially filed by the Ministry of Education. In 2018, he won the “Advanced Collective for Foreign Exchange and Cooperation among Colleges and Universities in Guangdong Province”.
