About Guangzhou Civil Aviation College

Guangzhou civil aviation College, directly under the Civil Aviation Administration of China, is the earliest full-time public university in civil aviation that independently sets up and implements higher vocational education. In 1994, the school was identified by the Ministry of Education as one of the first ten pilot five-year higher vocational education schools in China. Established in 1999 with the approval of Ministry of Education and Civil Aviation Administration; In 2010, it was identified as a national model higher vocational college by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. It is one of the 100 national and four in Guangdong Province and the only national model higher vocational college in civil aviation. In 2013, it officially became an institution jointly established by the Civil Aviation Administration and Guangdong Province. In 2016, it was identified by the Education Department and the Finance Department of Guangdong Province as “the project construction unit of the first-class higher vocational colleges in Guangdong Province”.

Based on civil aviation, serving the local and facing the world, the school adheres to the orientation of vocational education, and takes the lead in putting forward and implementing the training mode of technical and technical personnel based on industry standards in China, forming the school-running characteristics of “relying on industries, cooperation between industry and university, double teachers and certificates, and being universally used internationally”.

The school has three campuses: Airport Road Campus, Baiyun Airport Campus and Huadu Chini Campus, covering a total area of 1112 mu. The total value of existing fixed assets is about 1.28 billion yuan, among which the assets of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment are about 280 million yuan, including 29 large and medium-sized teaching aircraft, 140 aircraft engines, more than 50,000 aircraft parts and a large number of professional equipment.The school has 719 faculty members, including 574 full-time teachers and 474 teachers with master’s degree or above, accounting for 82.6% of full-time teachers. There are 339 professional teachers with double-qualification, accounting for 88.5% of the professional teachers. The proportion of full-time teachers holding professional qualification certificates for special types of civil aviation industry, certificates for appraisers and teachers of vocational skills and professional qualification certificates for other types of work is 62.7%.

The school has six secondary colleges, namely, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College, Airport Management College, Civil Aviation Management College, Humanities and Social Sciences College, Continuing Education College and Marxism College. It recruits students from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and has 23 majors and 33 professional directions, covering key positions in civil aviation maintenance and service, with more than 12,000 students. The enrollment rate of freshmen, the employment rate of graduates, and the professional counterpart rate are all in the forefront of similar institutions. Among them, the counterpart rate of civil aviation specialties such as aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance, aircraft structure repair, avionics equipment maintenance, aviation ground equipment maintenance and general aircraft maintenance is over 90%, and outstanding graduates have become technical backbones and management talents.

Guided by the needs of modern civil aviation system and aviation industry chain construction, and focusing on the core competence training of civil aviation special professional posts (groups) such as aircraft maintenance and civil aviation transportation, the school has innovated the training mode of civil aviation special professional talents, which is “integration of lessons and certificates, integration between China and foreign countries, and integration of schools and enterprises”. The teaching standards of civil aviation specialty courses based on industry standards have been formulated, so that “industry standards are included in the system and professional standards are included in the courses”, and a school-enterprise shared “public training platform” for civil aviation specialty such as civil aviation aircraft maintenance engineering, airport safety inspection, aviation service and general aviation has been established in cooperation with civil aviation industry enterprises, which plays a leading role in the teaching of civil aviation specialty in other colleges and universities across the country. The school has continuously strengthened cooperation with overseas universities and aviation enterprises such as the United States, Britain, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong to enhance the internationalization level of running schools. Cooperate with Sri Lanka and other countries along the “the belt and road initiative” in civil aviation vocational education to realize the export of educational resources; It has successively cooperated with Westminster College of the United States, Malaysia Construction University and China University of Science and Technology of Taiwan Province in undergraduate vocational education, and built an “overpass” for talent growth to realize the connection between China and foreign countries in the civil aviation vocational education system; Through international cooperation and foreign exchanges, the internationalization of personnel training standards, teachers, teaching materials and management has been promoted, school education has been brought into line with international standards, and the soft power of civil aviation vocational education has been promoted.
