About LuXun Academy of Fine Arts

Luxun Academy of Fine Arts is located in Shenyang, the political, economic and cultural center of Northeast China. It is the only higher art school in Northeast China. The establishment of the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts can be traced back to the Yan’an Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, which was initiated by the older generation of party and state leaders such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai in 1938. Comrade Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school and the school motto of “Tense, Serious, Hardworking, and Modest”. Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts was founded by Yan’an Luyi and has experienced 81 years of development. Her history can be divided into four stages, namely, the period of Yan’an Lu Xun Art Academy (abbreviated as “Yan’an Lu Yi”), the period of Northeast Lu Xun Art Academy (abbreviated as “Northeast Lu Yi”), Northeast Art Academy (abbreviated as Northeast Art Academy) and During the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts (referred to as “Lu Mei”).

After 81 years of development, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts has grown into a well-known higher art academy with strong teachers, complete specialties, school-running level and overall strength among similar institutions in the country, with distinctive school-running characteristics, and an important influence both at home and abroad. The college has two campuses in Shenyang and Dalian. The Shenyang campus is located in the political, economic and cultural center of Northeast China, and the Dalian campus is located in the beautiful national scenic tourist resort Jinshitan. The campus covers a total area of 958,000 square meters. The library now contains 609,800 books and more than 3,000 pieces of authentic domestic paintings and calligraphy, rubbings of rubbings, and cultural relics. The total construction area of art museums and art museums is 23,796.77 square meters.

All majors of the college have the right to grant master’s degrees. The college has 3 first-level disciplines: Fine Arts, Design, and Art Theory. Among them, the majors of fine arts and design are the earliest traditional majors in the country; the major of photography is the first major in the country to train photography undergraduates and postgraduates; the major of animation is rated as a key support major of Liaoning Province; the industrial design experimental teaching center is a similar institution in the country The only national-level industrial design experimental teaching demonstration center in the school; the printmaking experimental teaching center and the photographic film experimental teaching demonstration center have been rated as the provincial experimental teaching demonstration center.

The college takes talent training as a fundamental task, attaches importance to basic teaching reform, and strengthens basic skills training. Both in teaching achievements and artistic creation, great achievements have been made, a large number of fine arts have been created, many artistic creations and researches have won national awards, and they have made due contributions to socialist literature and art.

The college has a team of teachers with good quality, strong ability, professional structure and professional title structure. There are 518 full-time teachers, 67 professors, 177 associate professors, 1 other deputy senior professors, 214 lecturers, 26 teaching assistants, and 33 unrated people. Among them, 11 experts enjoy special government allowances issued by the State Council. The college currently has 6,637 undergraduates and 643 postgraduates.

The college is not only a famous university, but also an important base for art creation, art design and academic research. In the previous national art exhibitions, the selection rate and award rate are among the top universities of the same kind. Panoramic painting is a sign of the overall creative strength of the college’s large-scale artistic creation. The design discipline has made important contributions to the development of social economy and culture. Among the major projects involved in the creation, design and construction, 40 were listed as the national patriotism education base by the Central Propaganda Department. The college has been rated as a red classic art education demonstration base for colleges and universities, and approved by the Liaoning Provincial Government as a “painting talent training and training base”, “industrial product design talent training and training base” and “Liaoning Province’s scarce talents and art talent training base” “.

The college attaches great importance to scientific research and creation, and promotes the improvement of teaching level. According to the regularity and particularity of art education, while ensuring the prominent position of teaching work, it also pays attention to scientific research creation, and takes scientific research creation as an important means to improve the level of undergraduate teaching. As of 2019, the college has received 2 National Social Science Funds, 6 National Social Science Fund Art Projects, and 16 National Art Funds. The college has established friendly inter-university relationships with more than 30 art academies in the world. At present, approved by the Ministry of Education, our college has jointly run schools with two international art academies.

Every year, the college regularly invites domestic and foreign experts and scholars to give lectures in our college to enhance cultural exchanges. Through a wide range of academic activities, it promotes our college’s foreign academic exchanges and forms a strong academic atmosphere. The journal “Art Work” has successively won the National Excellent Social Science Journal, the Chinese Art Core Journal, the Chinese Journal Phalanx Double-effect Journal, and has been rated as the National Chinese Core Journal for three consecutive times.

From 2016 to 2019, the college has created a series of graduation season activities for three consecutive years. It has become a brand activity for the college to display educational achievements to the society, strengthen aesthetic education services, disseminate artistic concepts, and lead the public’s aesthetics, and comprehensively enhance the openness and openness of college art to society. The degree of integration focuses on reporting to the society the teaching results and school-running characteristics of our school.
