Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (UST) is a national university under the construction of “Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China” and “14th Five-Year Education Power Promotion Project”, as well as a university under the construction of “Domestic First-class University” and a high-level university in Shaanxi Province. The university was founded in 1958 as Beijing Light Industry College, the first light industry college in New China; in 1970, it was moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, and renamed as Northwest Light Industry College; in 1978, it was identified by the State Council as one of the 88 key colleges and universities in China; in 1998, it was transferred to Shaanxi Province, and was jointly built by the central government and the local government; in 2002, it was renamed Shaanxi University of Science and Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education; in 2006 The main body of the university was moved to Xi’an City.
