About Shanghai University of International Business and Economics
Shanghai University of international business and economics is one of the first universities to be built under the Ministry of education’s “high-level international talent training and innovation practice base”, the Ministry of education’s “national excellent traditional culture inheritance base for ordinary universities”, the Asia Pacific Training Center and the WTO chair college. It is selected as the demonstration base for employment and Entrepreneurship of college graduates in Shanghai and the class a entrepreneurship guidance Station of colleges and universities in Shanghai.
The school, formerly known as Shanghai Institute of foreign trade, was founded in 1960. In September 1994, the school was put under the management of Shanghai Municipal People’s government by the former Ministry of foreign trade and economic cooperation. In April 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University was renamed Shanghai University of international business and economics.
As of April 2021, the school has three campuses: Songjiang, Gubei and Qibao, covering an area of 1003 mu, a construction area of 323700 square meters, a collection of 1589300 paper books, 2189500 e-books, 87 Chinese and foreign language databases and 57700 full-text electronic journals; There are 13 Colleges (Teaching Department) and 33 undergraduate majors; There are 7 primary discipline master programs, 36 secondary discipline master programs and 10 professional degree awarding fields; There are more than 1100 teaching staff, including more than 800 full-time teachers; There are more than 12000 students, including nearly 9000 full-time undergraduates, nearly 3000 master’s students and more than 300 international students.

Shanghai U niversity of International Business and Economics (SUIBE), founded in 1960, is the sole business-oriented university in East China and boasts a strong tradition of business education, aiming at creating business talents with global vision. SUIBE is the base of creating the professionals for Shanghai international trading center and for many years SUIBE has enjoyed a good reputation of super high employment rate both in China and abroad. SUIBE has two campuses, with Gubei campus located in the downtown CBD, only 10 minutes’ drive from Hongqiao International Airport and Songjiang Campus located in the Songjiang university town of Shanghai’s suburb, about 35 minutes’ drive from downtown campus. SUIBE now has a total number of some 12,000 students, including nearly 2000 international students coming from over 100 countries and regions.
The leading majors of SUIBE are international trade, international finance, international accounting, business administration, international law and business English. Today SUIBE offers 35 undergraduate programs and 20 postgraduate programs, of which 2 undergraduate programs and 4 postgraduate programs are offered in English; furthermore, a multitude of certificates programs are offered. SUIBE has 11 schools: School of International Studies, Business School, Foreign Language School, Finance School, Law School, Management School, Accounting School, School of Tourism and Event Management, School of Business Information Management, School of Continuing Education and Graduate School.
