About Wuhan Railway Vocational College of Technology

Founded in 1956, Wuhan Railway Vocational College of Technology (hereafter referred to briefly as WRC) is a full-time higher vocational institute specialized in railway programs, sponsored by Hubei provincial government. WRC is a construction unit of high-level vocational colleges and programs in China, one of China’s exemplary vocational colleges, one of the top 200 high-level colleges among 1488 vocational colleges in China, top fifty colleges with good employment and one of the first modern apprenticeship pilot units of Ministry of Education. WRC offers 38 programs and has an enrollment of over 13000 full-time students nationwide, with 8 academic schools such as School of Railway Transport Management, School of Railway Locomotive and Vehicle, School of Railway Communications and Signals, School of Railway Engineering, School of Machinery and Electronics, School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, School of Economics and Management, Medical and Nursing School and so on.

With a more than 69-year-long history, WRC has gained rich experience in industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation. It has played an important role in promoting the development of the railway industry and the economic and social development of Hubei province. Graduates of WRC are generally welcomed by the society and rail transit enterprises, and the employment rate has retained a percentage of over 96% in recent years.

WRC pushes forward international exchanges and cooperation and has established partnerships with colleges and educational institutions from UK, USA, Canada, Germany and Thailand. Upholding the ideas “Where there is a high-speed railway, there is our service!” and following the Belt and Road initiative, WRC pioneered high-speed railway technician training program for Thailand and Kenya. China-Thailand cooperative program of cultivating high-speed railway talents ranked as the first batch of top 20 China-ASEAN vocational colleges characteristic cooperation projects. WRC has won the bronze prize(2016), the silver prize (2018) and the gold prize (2020) of World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) Award of Excellence and established the first High-speed Railway Luban Institute globally in Thailand in April, 2019. It has become a window for the world to know about Chinese higher vocational education in the high-speed railway field.
