About Xi’an University

Xi’an, known as “Chang’an” in ancient times, is the capital city of Shaanxi province, afamous historical and cultural city, an important central city in western China, the best tourist destination in China, and an important national science and education center. There are many universities herewhichis of a dense culturalatmosphere.

Xi’an University is located in the ancient city of Xi’an. It is surrounded by numerous scenic spots and historic sites, including the world-famous Terracotta Warriors, Dayan Pagoda, andthe Huaqing Hot Spring.

Sponsored by the municipal government and co-built by the province and the city, XAU is a full-time undergraduate university which enrolls students from all over the country. The history can be traced back to the establishment of Shaanxi Normal School in 1903. XAU established the “local, practical, open” running tenet, adhere to the transformation and upgrading, the innovation driving, the road of connotation development, passed the Ministry of Education undergraduate course teaching qualified evaluation in 2011, the double bachelor’s degree awardingpilot unit of Shaanxi province in 2013,a transformation in the development of Shaanxi province in 2014, the postgraduate Xi’an national comprehensive reform pilot unitin 2016, 7 professional approved as “first-class professional” of Shaanxi province in 2017,approved for construction unit “first-class applied undergraduate university in 2018.

XAU offers 10 categories of disciplines including literature, science, technology, education, management, economics, law, history, agriculture, arts, covering 47 undergraduate programs. Currently, it has 12208 full-time students. There are 12 colleges, and 1 continuing education college.

XAU has cooperated with many universities from the United States, Canada, Britain, Belgium, New Zealand, Hungary and Italy to exchange students and carry out academic education and select young teachersfor visiting and cooperative research. In recent years, nearly 200 international students from South Korea, Thailand and Central Asian countries have come to XAU to study Chinese language and literature.

Since 2016, the Silk-Road International Summer Camphas been held every summer in XAU. Overseas students from more than 20 countries gather in the city of Xi’an to experience local culture and perceive the charm of China.
