Since 2002, Huzhou University has obtained the qualifications for enrolling foreign students. Hundreds of international students from the United States, Britain, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Yemen, Romania and other countries have come to our school for exchange and study. In 2012, the first professional international students successfully graduated from our school and obtained a bachelor’s degree. In the same year, our school began to recruit the first batch of international students with established academic qualifications; in 2013, the International College was established. At present, the International College is mainly responsible for the teaching and management of foreign students coming to the school, the construction and management of international majors and courses, and the management of Sino-foreign cooperative education projects.
The International College now has preparatory Chinese classes (beginner, intermediate) to improve the Chinese language ability of foreign students and lay the foundation for international students to enter professional studies. At the same time, the college also accepts short-term international students from many countries to exchange and study in our school every year.
After long-term efforts, our foreign student teaching has formed its own characteristics: small class teaching, professional teacher, standardized management, serialized activities, and has formed a discipline structure with reasonable age level, good professional quality, and rich teaching experience. The teachers have made fruitful achievements in the scientific research of Chinese as a second language/foreign language teaching. In recent years, he has published more than 100 papers and more than 10 monographs in journals such as “Language Research”, “World Chinese Teaching”, “Language Teaching and Research”, and “Chinese Learning”.
