About Dongguan University Of Technology

Dongguan University of Technology is the first ordinary undergraduate university in Dongguan. It is jointly built by the province and the city. Dr. Yang Zhenning, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, serves as the honorary president.

The university was opened in 1990,

It was founded in April 1992 with the approval of the former State Education Commission.

In March 2002, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was changed into a full-time undergraduate college.

In May 2006, it was approved as a bachelor’s degree awarding unit.

In May 2008, it passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education.

In June 2010, together with Tsinghua University and other 61 universities, it was approved as one of the first batch of universities to implement the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan” by the Ministry of Education.

In September 2015, it was identified as a high-level science and engineering university construction unit supported by Guangdong Province.

In May 2018, it was confirmed as the newly added master’s degree awarding unit.

In November 2018, the University Science Park was selected as the “National University Science Park Cultivation Unit”.

In July 2019, it became the only demonstration university of a new type of high-level science and engineering university in the province.

In 2020, it was successfully selected into the list of the first batch of national intellectual property pilot universities.

In May 2021, our university was officially approved as a provincial doctor’s degree granting project construction unit.

The university has two campuses in Songshan Lake and Guancheng. The Songshan Lake Campus is located at No. 1 Daxue Road, Songshan Lake High-tech Industrial Development Zone, covering an area of more than 1,800 mu (including 370 mu international Cooperation and Innovation Zone). Guancheng Campus is located at 251 Xueyuan Road, Guancheng District, covering an area of more than 330 mu. There are 1732 faculty members, including 180 with senior titles, 387 with associate senior titles, and 797 with doctorates. There are nearly 20,000 full-time regular students and over 20,000 continuing education students. So far, about 120,000 local talents have been trained. About 80% of the graduates stay in Dongguan to find jobs and start businesses.

The library has a total building area of 45,020 square meters, a total collection of 2.025 million volumes, 38 databases, 1.75 million electronic books and other digital resources. It has built ten gigabit bandwidth backbone, two 40G backbone, basically realized the IPV6 campus network of gigabit bandwidth to the desktop, 40,000 information points, built the wireless campus network covering the whole university, the number of aps is more than 7300, and the outlet bandwidth is 37.5G; The smart campus has 190 information systems, which provide abundant, convenient and fast information services for all teachers and students.

There are 17 experimental teaching centers, including 10 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. It has established a multidisciplinary professional system with engineering as the focus and coordinated development of management, literature, science, economics, law, education and other disciplines. It has 20 universitys and 59 undergraduate programs. Open the first “Yang Zhenning Innovation class” in China to cultivate top-notch innovative talents. Dongguan Institute of Technology – Mandarin Digital Curriculum Center was awarded the “Excellent Case of Industry-University Collaboration Education” by the Ministry of Education. It has won the second prize of national Education and teaching achievement Award for the first time. In the past five years, it has won 5 first prizes and 5 second prizes of Guangdong Education and teaching Achievement Award. A special fund of 10 million yuan is arranged every year to support innovation and entrepreneurship activities, and the university has been selected as the third batch of pilot universities for the construction of “Change-class” by the Guangdong Department of Education.

It will recruit students from 25 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government), and the first batch of undergraduate students from 14 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government), including the reformed provinces. Since 2005, the university (including the joint training base) has enrolled a total of 1695 joint training master’s students, 34 international joint training doctoral students, and 484 master’s students. Over the years, the employment rate of graduates is over 98%, and the satisfaction of employers is over 94%.

With the cooperation of new research and development institutions, industry leading enterprises, professional town and street parks and international famous universities and other innovative subjects, the company has set up 9 modern industrial colleges integrating talent training, technology research and development and social services. It has been approved as two modern industry colleges of the Ministry of Education, five new engineering research and practice projects, one new liberal arts research and practice project, five Guangdong Provincial demonstration industry colleges, and two cases of industry-education integration training base of the Ministry of Education.

According to the national and regional technological and industrial development needs, we will focus on building three major clusters of disciplines, namely intelligent manufacturing, green and low-carbon, and innovative services. In May 2018, the university was approved as a newly added master’s degree authorization unit, and was successively approved as three master’s degree authorization programs, including Computer Science and Technology, Resources and Environment, and Machinery. The university has 1 master’s program in civil engineering, 7 professional master’s programs in international business, Social work, Electronic information, Materials and Chemical Engineering, energy and power, Civil and hydraulic Engineering, biology and Medicine. 6 key disciplines of Guangdong Province, including Chemical Engineering, Circuit and System, Computer Application Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics; Mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, cyberspace security, civil engineering and other four disciplines were included in the provincial education Department’s key construction disciplines of “promoting first-class, reinforcing weak points and strengthening characteristics”; The disciplines of Engineering science, Materials Science and chemistry of the university are ranked top 1% in ESI worldwide. Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and automation major, electronic information engineering, applied chemistry, Software engineering, Environmental Engineering, Communication engineering obtained IEET Engineering education certification.

Since 2015, it has introduced more than 700 high-level talents, outstanding young doctors and postdocs, including 59 top and outstanding talents such as academicians of China and China Academy of Sciences, 9 discipline leaders, 44 discipline leaders, and 46 discipline backbones. One person has been awarded the National Natural Science Foundation for Excellent Youth Project, 2 people have been awarded the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation for Outstanding Youth Project, 4 people have been selected into the “Pearl River Scholars” post plan, 3 people have been selected into the “Pearl River Talent Plan”, 4 people have been selected into the leading talents of Dongguan City, and more than 40 people have been selected into the various talents of Dongguan City.
