Beijing International Chinese Academy was established in September 2005. It is a private higher education institution specializing in the international promotion of Chinese language approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and registered with the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. It is a 4A-level Chinese social organization and the World Chinese Language Teaching Association. The college hired Professor Xu Jialu, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and president of the World Chinese Language Teaching Association, as its honorary dean, and Professor Geng Xuechao, former director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and president of the Beijing Higher Education Association, as its dean. The college currently has more than 50 full-time and part-time teachers of Chinese as a foreign language and Chinese culture teachers, of which 80% are teachers with a master’s degree or above. The full-time and part-time teachers all graduated from Beijing Normal University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Beijing Language and Culture University and other well-known universities, with rich teaching experience and overseas teaching experience.

The college’s “three points and one line” campus layout fully meets the learning needs of foreigners in Beijing. The headquarters of the college is located in Cui Gezhuang Township, Chaoyang District, which is known as “Beijing’s Most Beautiful Village”. It covers an area of more than 20 acres and has teaching areas, office areas, student and teacher apartments and other functional areas. In addition, the North Campus of Gengdan College in Shunyi District and the South Campus of Baijiazhuang Road in Sanlitun provide students from all over the world with convenient conditions for nearby learning. Since its establishment, more than 50,000 students from more than 160 countries and regions have learned Chinese, experienced Chinese culture, and took Chinese tests in our school. At the same time, as the implementation base for foreign-related projects of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Beijing Municipal Government, it has undertaken more than 70 major projects commissioned by the State and the Beijing Municipal Government from more than 100 projects in Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Nearly 3,000 foreign government officials, embassy officials in China and foreign media reporters participated in the training.

In July 2016, according to the announcement of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing International Chinese Academy is a private non-academic higher education institution, which is a training institution and cannot issue academic certificates.
