Changzhou College of Information Technology, affiliated to Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu Province, is the first national model higher vocational college of information technology and the only one in Jiangsu. The college is on the state construction list of high-level vocational colleges with Chinese characteristics and the construction list of Jiangsu high-level vocational colleges. It is a national model software vocational and technical college, and serves as national software and information technology service outsourcing talent training base, national high-skilled talent training base, supporting institution of national natural science foundation, national industrial Internet talent training model base of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, teacher training base for higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education, modern apprenticeship pilot institution of the Ministry of Education, a leading institution of 2 national specialized teaching resource pools, executive director institution of China Software Industry and Education Alliance, The executive secretariat of the Chinese Council of China-South Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Alliance, the chairman institution of the Information Technology-based Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for vocational colleges, and the chairman institution of the Yangtze River Delta Software Vocational Education Group.

The college was founded in 1962, named Changzhou Qinye Electromechanical School, and changed its name to Changzhou Radio Industry School in 1980. In October 2000, with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial Government, the school and Changzhou University of Electronic Workers merged and became Changzhou College of Information Technology. The college is now located in Changzhou Higher Vocational Training Park, which is a park with beautiful landscape and filled with modern atmosphere, integrating teaching, scientific research, training, vocational skill appraisal and social service. The college covers an area of 70 hectares and has a total floor area of 320,300 square meters. The college has an enrollment of 12,315 full-time students, 12,300 students of refresher education, 248 international students and 733 faculty members. The college consists of 7 schools (Intelligent Equipment School, Electronic Engineering School, Software and Big Data School, Modern Industry Service School, Digital Creativity School, school of Refresher Education and School of International Education) and four departments (Department of Marxism Education, Department of General Education, Department of College English Education and Department of Physical Education).

The college has won good reputation with outstanding achievements. It has won state-level prizes (3 first-class and 3 second-class prizes) for teaching achievements for 4 consecutive years. It has also won 1 grand prize, 5 first-class prizes, 10 second-class prizes of provincial level for teaching achievements and two provincial prizes (1 second-class and 1 third-class) for science and technology progress. The college has been awarded many honorary titles such as National Advanced Vocational Education Institution, Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award for Excellent Colleges, the first group of model institutions for graduate employment, National Advanced Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Institution among Higher Vocational Colleges, Jiangsu Model College, Jiangsu Safety Campus, Jiangsu Advanced Collective in Ideological and Political Education Work among institutions of higher education, Jiangsu Advanced Collective in Graduate Employment Work, Jiangsu Advanced Collective in Enrollment, Jiangsu Advanced College in Teaching Staff Building, Changzhou Pacesetter for Model Institutions, etc. the college is ranked among the Top 50 in terms of both International Influence and Service Contribution among national vocational colleges.
