Chongqing Technology and Business Institute is a full-time public institution of higher learning established by Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a national backbone vocational college and a construction unit of “High-level Vocational institute and Specialty Construction Plan with Chinese Characteristics” confirmed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.

The institute has three campuses in Hechuan District and Jiulongpo District, covering a total area of 1339 mu. There are 934 faculty and staff members, including 72 professors and other senior titles, 189 associate professors, senior engineers, senior laboratory engineers and other associate titles, and 580 doctors and masters degrees. Two professional teacher teams including “Artificial Intelligence Technology and Application” were selected as “National Vocational Education Teacher Teaching Innovation Team”. At present, the institute has nearly 17,000 full-time college students.

The institute plays the role of the government, business and institute cooperation and development Council, relying on the Kowloon Creative and Entrepreneurship Base, Jialing River Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base and Jialing River Development Research Center, to build a institute-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education base and a win-win cooperation platform. So far, the institute has reached cooperation agreements with more than 300 enterprises and institutions, signing more than 180 cooperation projects, providing more than 4,600 jobs annually, covering 100% of the institute’s majors. The “Mobile New Media Industry College” jointly built with Hualong Group has taken an important step in promoting the construction of a mixed-ownership college with the characteristics of “Internet Plus”. Through the “dual system” pilot, A new cooperative development mechanism of “integration and diversification” has been formed, featuring multiple factors of running institutes, multi-dimensional space, multi-category information sharing, and diversified goals and actions. In 2018, the institute established Digital Creative Vocational Education Group with many parties. It has jointly established ICT College with Huawei, “Tencent Cloud Computing College” with Tencent, and “Artificial Intelligence College” with IFlytek.

In recent years, the comprehensive strength of the institute has been steadily improved. It has become a pilot unit of modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, one of the first pilot units of education informatization of the Ministry of Education, and has been approved as the national continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, the training base of the World Skills Competition, and the postdoctoral research station of “Internet + Vocational Education”. The institute ranks 60th in the Competitiveness Ranking of China’s Higher Vocational Colleges in 2018-2019, and 69th in the “National Discipline Competition Ranking of Ordinary Universities (2012-2019)” released by the Expert Working group of “Research on the Evaluation and Management System of Higher Education Competition” of China Society of Higher Education. In the “National Teaching Competition Analysis Report for Teachers of Regular Colleges and Universities (2012-2019)”, it ranked the 10th place, the first place of higher vocational colleges in Western China, the third place of backbone higher vocational colleges in China, and the eighth place of “high-level” higher vocational colleges in China.

The institute is a higher vocational college that holds the national competition of the National Skills Competition for Vocational colleges. It is also the national training base of the World Skills Competition. Two contestants were selected for the National training team of the World Skills Competition. The quality of talent training in the institute has been steadily improved. Students have won numerous awards in various skills competitions at provincial and ministerial level and above, including 3 bronze awards in the National “Internet +” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 8 first prizes, 13 second prizes and 19 third prizes in the national Vocational College Skills Competition.
