About Chongqing Vocational College of Public Transportation

In order to support and serve the development of modern transportation industry, especially urban rail transportation, railway transportation and intelligent transportation, Chongqing Transportation Development Group wholly owned Chongqing Vocational College of Public Transportation (hereinafter referred to as “the college”) in 2010. The college aims to cultivate highly skilled talents for the modern transportation industry, and is the only senior vocational college in the city wholly owned by a key state-owned enterprise, the only transportation senior vocational college supported by the Municipal Transport Bureau, the only transportation senior vocational college with urban rail transportation, railway transportation and intelligent transportation as its main specialties, and the only senior vocational college established by the municipal government to implement the “Railway Employment The college is the only high level vocational college that has been awarded the project of high level professional group construction project of rail and railway.

The college is located in Jiangjin Park, a science city in western China (Chongqing), and now offers 38 majors, including 26 rail and railway majors (directions). 3 national-level professional teaching resource library construction projects, 2 municipal-level high-level virtual simulation demonstration training bases have been approved, and 15 pilot projects of 1+X certificate system have been approved. There are now more than 11,000 full-time students enrolled in academic education, with an annual enrolment of more than 3,000 students. Since its establishment, the college has trained more than 20,000 full-time graduates and more than 1,000 international students from countries along the “Belt and Road”, and more than 60% of the graduates have been employed by enterprises in the transportation industry and large state-owned enterprises, providing strong talent and skills support for the sustainable and healthy development of the transportation industry in Chongqing and the southwest region.

In 2015, Zhang Dejiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, visited the college and gave full recognition to the achievements of college-enterprise cooperation. In 2019, the Southwest Railway Transportation Vocational Education Group, led by the college, was recognised as a municipal model vocational education group, and in 2020, the Chongqing Transportation Development Group, the organiser of the college, was selected as one of the first incubators of the city’s integrated education and industry enterprises for its outstanding achievements in vocational education. In 2021, the college will be recognised as one of the first pilot higher vocational colleges for the new apprenticeship system and one of the first incubation spaces for “intelligent + skilled” talents. In 2022, the college was awarded the National Highly Skilled Person Training Base Project.

According to the college’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the construction plan of the “Double High” pilot program and the action plan for quality improvement, by 2025, the college will be built into a transportation vocational college with distinctive characteristics of vocational education run by state-owned enterprises, which is first-class in China and internationally renowned. By 2025, the college will be a high college of transportation with distinctive characteristics of vocational education run by state-owned enterprises, first-class in China and internationally renowned, and become a highland for cultivating high-quality technical and technical talents in urban rail transportation, railway transportation and intelligent transportation industries in Chongqing and even in the southwest region, and lay a solid foundation for building an undergraduate vocational higher education college with strong influence in the transportation industry.
