About Guangdong Pharmaceutical University

Guangdong Pharmaceutical University (GDU), founded in 1958, is one of the three pharmaceutical universities in China and the earliest institution of higher learning offering pharmaceutical majors in South China. Since its establishment, the university has been adhering to the university motto of “Pharmacy, Chinese and Western medicine, medicine to help the world”, and has developed into a unique pharmaceutical university with “drug oriented, drug and medical combination, pharmaceutical industry integration, multi-disciplinary coordinated development”.

The university is large and well-equipped. It has five campuses in Guangzhou (University Town, Chigang, Baogang), Zhongshan and Yunfu, covering an area of 5300 mu, with 760,000 square meters of university buildings, 1.81 million books, 19 universitys (departments) and 2 affiliated grade-A grade III hospitals. There are more than 22,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students in the university.

The university has outstanding disciplinary advantages and characteristics. The discipline of Clinical Medicine ranks top 1% in ESI worldwide; In the new round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, pharmacy ranked the 21st in China and the 2nd in the province. It has 7 provincial and ministerial key disciplines (including 1 key discipline of Panfeng of Guangdong Province, 3 superior key disciplines of Guangdong Province, 1 key cultivation discipline of Guangdong Province, and 2 key disciplines of state Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine). It has 5 first-level master degree authorization centers and 6 professional master degree authorization categories.

The university medical education system is complete. It is one of the universities with the most complete pharmacy specialties in China, with 41 undergraduate specialties covering 7 disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management, economics, literature and law. Since its establishment, the university has trained more than 130,000 high-quality graduates in pharmaceutical and related industries. Among more than 600 pharmaceutical enterprises in Guangdong Province, more than 1/3 are founded or held senior positions by alumni.

The university has strong scientific and technological innovation strength. There are 49 national and provincial-level scientific research platforms, such as “National-level Industry-university-Research Incubator base for health Industry”, “Guangdong Pharmaceutical University —- Zhongshan Biomedical Innovation Platform of University of Hong Kong”.

The School of International Education (SIE) is an international student administrative organization ofGuangdong Pharmaceutical University (GDPU), which integrates with international student education, administration and the academic research. Since its establishment in July 2009, SIE has enjoyed steady growth and has expanded considerably in both its number of student and teaching and researching strength.

Each section of SIE has its own distinctive responsibilities so as to provide better service in student enrollment and administration, the designing and teaching of the Chinese Language programs, as well as accommodation and other consultation services. We handle international student affairs, including recruitment, enrollment, residence permit, management of student profiles, student consultation, accommodation, Chinese teaching and logistics services, etc.

SIE also offers Undergraduate Programs with Medium of English. The programs are designed for students who would like to pursue high quality degree courses of English as teaching medium, as well as an intercultural experience and exploration in China. All courses are delivered in English by highly qualified lecturers and original English textbooks and teaching materials are used. Students who satisfy all the conditions prescribed byGDPUwill be awarded Bachelor degrees. The first batch of programs available includes B.Eng. in Computer Science and technologyand B.Eco. in International Economics and Trade.
