About Guiyang Vocational and Technical College

Guiyang Vocational and Technical College is a full-time, all-around and open institute which was approved by the Government of Guizhou province, registered by the National Ministry of education filling, sponsored by Guiyang municipal People’s Governemt. The college covers an area of 102 acres and almost the half is the building area. The college has a library, halls, academic buildings, office buildings, training centers and other facilities for sports activities. The college has three branches, “Rail Transport”, “Phosphorus Coal Chemical Industry”, and “Equipment Manufacturing”, 2 vocational education groups and seven departments including the Department of Financial, Trading and Business Management; the Department of Information and Computer Science, the Department of Tourism Management, the Department of Biological and Chemistry Engineering, the Department of Architecture, the department of Art Design, and the Department of Agriculture. the seven departments contain 25 specialities: computer network technology, secretarial major, interior design(art), software technology, tourism management, tourism English, e-commerce, electromechanical intergration technology, computerized acounting, pharmaceutical technology, urban rail transit vehicles, advertising design and production(art), project management, exhibition planning and management, logistics management, numerical control technology, landscape technology, urban rail traffic control(overhanding driving and maintenance), materiala engineering, environmental design, the application of chemical technology(collaborated with Guizhou Kailin Group), the application of chemical technology(collaborated with Guizhou Kailin Group). There are around 10,000full-time students enrolled in the college. Presently, the faculty number is 443 with 64 Master degree and PH. D owners, 113 teachers are professors and associated professors, 124 teachers are”dual skilled”. Graduate employment rate has reeach over 90% in the past few years.

In the process of reform and development, the college takes the initiative to adapt market change, such as intensifying of joint education, establishing “school-enterprise cooperation” with the key industries in Guiyang, and making the class of the enterprise become the training base for students. The college has established a cooperation relationship with some enterprises such as Guizhou Kailin (Group) Co., Ltd., Southwest Tool (Group) Co., Ltd., Guiyang Urban Rail Transit Co., Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., and has a cooperation with the Educational Institute of American Hotel & Lodging in USand Nilai University in Malaysia which becomes the highlights of the college’s cooperation development.

Campus culture is the soul of a college. For the aim of training “moral, intellectual, physical,” qualified personnel of all-round developing, the college takes some measures at three aspects, the material culture, institutional culture and spiritual culture. The college makes great effort for students to establish a healthy cultural atmosphere. Our students have taken part in two performances in the opening ceremony of the ninth National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People’s Republic of China in September, 2011.
