I. School profile

Sichuan Vocational College of Cultural Industries is a full-time public college of general higher education registered by the Ministry of Education, approved by the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and supervised by the Publicity Department of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is the first cultural industry college in China that is independently set up to cultivate high-end technical talents. It is a provincial model higher vocational college in Sichuan Province, a high quality college training institution in Sichuan Province, an excellent unit of Education informatization pilot in Sichuan Province, a university in Sichuan Province’s Excellent News and Communication Talent Education Training Plan, and a civilized campus in Sichuan Province. The university adopts the organization and management mode of “two houses and one center”, which is operated by Sichuan Provincial Correspondence School for Cadres, Sichuan Vocational College of Cultural Industries and Sichuan Provincial Propaganda and Cultural Cadre Training Center.

The main campus of the university is located in the core area of Tianfu New District, the main urban area of Chengdu. It is directly reached by Metro Line 5. The campus covers an area of more than 520 mu and has more than 10,000 full-time students. The university has a team of teachers with good political quality, excellent professional skills and strong practical ability, which meet the needs of higher vocational education. There are more than 500 staff and staff, including 74 teachers with associate senior titles or above. At the same time, a number of external experts, professors and creative design masters are hired as visiting professors.

II.Teaching Units

The university has 11 teaching units, including the School of Financial Media, the School of Culture and Tourism, the School of Culture and Commerce, the School of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Bashu Culture, the School of Digital Arts, the School of Big Data and Internet, the School of Culture and Museology, the School of Performing Arts, the School of Environmental Art, the Department of Ideological and Political Affairs, and the Department of General Education. The university has 9 practice teaching centers on campus, 161 practice bases off campus and 5 master studios and study halls.

III.Education Concept

Adhering to the educational philosophy of “from culture, thriving in industry” and the school motto of “Educating people by virtue and educating people by culture”, the school has built a talent training model of “three modernization, four integration and five axes linkage”. We will strive to cultivate high-end development-oriented, entrepreneurial and skilled talents for cultural undertakings and cultural industry operation and management, creative design talents, film and television communication talents, cultural and cultural arts talents, cultural tourism talents, intangible cultural heritage inheritance and innovation talents, and strive to build a first-class vocational college of cultural industry with distinctive characteristics in China.

IV. Teaching and Research Achievements

In recent years, the school has innovated and refined the cultivation path of cultural and creative talents characterized by “one program and four goals”, and the education and teaching work has shown new vitality. The concept of “whole-person education, all-round education and whole-process education” has begun to step into the stage of systematization, institutionalization, modularization, curriculum and differentiation of learning. In 2018, our teachers were awarded more than 20 outstanding instructors in national skills competition and more than 30 outstanding instructors in provincial skills competition. Among them, teacher He Wenjuan won the first prize in the Teaching design Competition of the Higher Vocational Group of the National Vocational College Skills Competition in 2018; The teachers and students of the school have won 23 first and second prizes in national skill competitions, and more than 200 students have won awards. We have won 34 provincial skill competitions and more than 100 students have won awards.

The university insists on scientific research to promote the development of education and teaching, and the quantity and quality of scientific research results have been steadily increasing. The University undertakes a total of 224 research projects in basic and applied basic research, among which 43 are at the national and provincial levels.
