两道长堤向江心延伸，
两个偶然结识的伙伴，
用手臂寻求力量和友情……
狂怒的江水一次一次冲击，
但是冲不断强烈的愿望，
手和手终于、终于紧紧地握在一起，
天地之间震荡着巨大的回声……
正是这一次友谊的接触迸出火花——
轻的，升上夜空，变成满天群星；
重的，落到地面，
化作两岸街灯……

The Great River Severed: An Impression
Xu Hui
Two long dikes stretch to the middle of the river
–Two partners met by chance,
Reaching out for strength and friendship…
Again and again the river dashed forward
But failed to dash their hopes.
At last hand in hand they hold on firmly;
A thunderous echo resounds between heaven and earth…
Out of this warm encounter burst forth the blazing sparks
The light ones, rising skyward, change to countless stars;
The heavier ones, falling to the ground,
Change to two banks of street lamps.
