That night, on the main road connecting the two capitals, Sima Gaoche drove one by one from Luoyang Yongwang Palace to Chang’an. On the bus were high-ranking concubines such as He Zhizhang, Zhang Xu, and Gongsun Aunt. They went to Chang’an to meet Li Bai overnight.
李白果然到了长安。在天京酒楼上，他与贺知章、张旭、公孙大娘等举杯豪饮。
Li Bai arrived in Chang’an as expected. At the Tianjing Restaurant, he raised a glass and drank with He Zhizhang, Zhang Xu, Gongsun Aunt, and others.
入夜，长安城万家灯火。贺知章激动地对李白说：“长安等待了您很多年！”李白眺望着繁星般的长安夜色说：“我对她也向往了很多年！”
At night, Chang’an City is ablaze with lights. He Zhizhang excitedly said to Li Bai, “Chang’an has been waiting for you for many years!” Li Bai looked at the starry night of Chang’an and said, “I have been longing for her for many years too!”
黎明，玄宗皇帝临朝理事。兴庆宫钟鼓齐鸣，勤政楼前雁列着紫帻持戟卫士和锦衣宦官。殿内侍立着文武百官、诸王子和各国使节。
At dawn, Emperor Xuanzong was appointed as a temporary governor. The bells and drums of the Xingqing Palace are ringing in unison, and in front of the Qinzheng Building, there are wild geese lined with guards with purple caps and halberds and eunuchs in royal robes. 玄宗命丞相把番书译出来，丞相瞠目结舌地说不认识。玄宗又问国舅杨国忠，国忠低头不语；命群臣传阅，群臣噤若寒蝉。玄宗勃然大怒：“难道大唐天子驾前，就没有一个识得番书的臣子？”
