About Wuxi Institute of Arts and Technology

Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts & Technology is located in Yixing, China, which is renowned as the Capital of Pottery. The Institute is a full-time institution of higher learning and functions directly under the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.

Thanks to the pottery and ceramics, Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts & Technology was established and has successfully developed for more than 80 years. In 1933, the Institute was founded and named as Ceramic Subject Vocational School. In 1958, the Institute was renamed as Ceramic Industry School. In 2004, the Institute attained the status of full-time institution of higher learning and was entitled as Wuxi Institute of Arts & Technology.

The Institute has one school and six departments, including Ceramic School,Digital Art Department, Environmental Art Department, Fashion Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Department, Electronic Information Department and Economics Management Department. The Institute offers almost 35 majors, among which the majors of Ceramic Art Design, Ceramic Technology, Sculpture Art Design, Wire and Cable Manufacturing Technology and Optometry Technology are the unique majors among the Jiangsu Provincial vocational colleges. The Institute recruits students throughout China and is dedicated to fostering high-quality technical skills talents with innovative spirit, pioneering consciousness and social responsibility. Presently, there are more than 10,000 full-time students on campus.

The Institute has a competent teaching force. Among all the teaching staff, the teachers with dual-qualifications account for over \ 85% in total. The Institute also has a large group of experts and scholars, some of whom are renowned as National A- Level Artists, Masters of Arts and Crafts, Masters of Ceramic Arts, etc.

The Institute enjoys a variety of qualifications for vocational skill training and testing, and is entitled as various training bases, e.g. the Chinese Ceramic Vocational Skill Training Base, Jiangsu Provincial-level Professional and Technical Personnel Continuing Education Base, Jiangsu Provincial-level Vocational Skill Appraisal Base of the Spectacles Industry, Wuxi Municipal High-Skill Talent Training Base, etc.

The Institute covers an area of nearly 667,000 square meters, with the building area of over 240,000 square meters, which is a digitalized campus of ecological and garden-style, equipped with extensive teaching facilities, modern experimental laboratories and training bases. On campus there is a multi-functional library, containing a leisure bar, reading room, audio-visual area, and a self-help area with internet access.
