About Yunnan Forestry Technological College

Yunnan Forestry Technological College is a public full-time ordinary higher vocational college approved by the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, filed by the Ministry of Education, publicly run by the state and qualified for higher education. The school is located in the Golden Temple National Scenic Area of Kunming. Since the establishment of Kunming Forestry School, the former Ministry of Forestry in 1955, it has formed unique charm and profound cultural heritage. The school motto of “full-time specialty, tree cultivation”, the school spirit of “mountains and rivers are surrounded by me, trees are shaded”, the teaching spirit of “being virtuous and nurturing students, pruning branches and shaping” and the study style of “being sensitive to learning, being confident and promising” constitute the spirit of trees. As the only independent forestry higher vocational college in Southwest China, after more than 60 years of development, the school has trained and brought up a large number of forestry science and technology talents for the country. 80% of the technical backbone of forestry bureaus in 129 counties (cities, districts) of 16 States (cities) in Yunnan Province are school graduates, which is known as “the green cradle of forestry talents in Yunnan”.

The College now covers an area of 728.6 mu, with two campuses, namely Golden Temple and Yanglin. There are eight secondary colleges and a general education center, including ecological environment engineering, industrial engineering, gardening and gardening, economic management, information engineering, cultural tourism, continuing education and international exchange, Marxism, etc. There are more than 19,000 full-time college and secondary school students, more than 300 adult continuing education students and 724,700 books in the library. There are 577 faculty members, including 407 full-time teachers, 16 doctors (including 2 post-doctors), 229 masters, 22 professors and 108 associate professors (including associate professors). There are 3 “famous teachers” in the provincial plan of 10,000 people, 6 provincial famous teachers, 1 national famous teacher in forestry and grassland, 2 experts who enjoy special allowance from the provincial government, 1 outstanding professional and technical personnel with outstanding contributions from the province and 1 outstanding teacher from Huang Yanpei. There are 1 national-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, 4 provincial-level excellent teaching teams, 1 provincial-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, 1 provincial-level high-level scientific research innovation team, 4 provincial famous teacher studios, 2 provincial skill master studios, 1 provincial counselor famous teacher studio, 1 provincial mental health education and consulting demonstration center, 1 applied technology collaborative innovation center, 1 “double-qualified” teacher training base, 1 virtual simulation training center and 1 entrepreneurial innovation course item. School-enterprise co-construction of 3 production training bases and 1 production-education integration base; There are 110 on-campus experimental laboratories (bases) and 79 off-campus training bases, of which 8 are provincial-level demonstration training bases for higher vocational education. In 2019, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as the first batch of “1+X” certificate system pilot institutions, and 22 kinds and 38 levels of vocational skill level certificates were selected. The school has built a collaborative innovation research base of Yunnan Center with high scores, which is the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units in the province and the first higher vocational college to record fees through the credit system.

At present, the College offers 43 majors, including one key major of forestry and grass in national vocational colleges, seven high-level backbone majors recognized by the Ministry of Education, one key construction major at the provincial level, and five specialty with provincial characteristics, which basically forms a major pattern of multi-coordinated development. Through the reform and innovation of “Three Education Reform”, talent training mode, curriculum system, credit system, teaching contents and methods, the school completed the transformation from provincial demonstration higher vocational colleges to provincial high-level higher vocational colleges and provincial high-quality higher vocational colleges, built one national and two provincial-level excellent online courses, won 130 provincial-level teaching quality projects, and presided over more than 420 scientific research projects at all levels. Among them, there are 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 2 national science and technology supported projects (sub-projects), 1 948 project of State Forestry and Grassland Bureau, 8 provincial philosophy and social science education science planning projects, 14 central financial forestry science and technology popularization demonstration projects, 12 provincial forestry science and technology popularization projects, and 28 various projects of provincial science and technology department. Authorized 2 invention patents, more than 100 utility model and design patents, and entered 5 achievement databases of State Forestry and Grassland Bureau; Teachers have edited or participated in compiling more than 120 kinds of unified teaching materials and teaching materials used in hospitals, and published more than 500 teaching and research papers; Registered 16 software copyrights and participated in the formulation of 2 industry standards.

As an open vocational college with international vision, the College is now the chairman unit of Yunnan Ecological Civilization Construction Vocational Education Group, the vice chairman unit of Lancang-Mekong River Vocational Education Alliance, the secretary general unit of Yunnan Forestry Vocational Education Group, the governing unit of Yunnan Open Vocational Education Group and Yunnan Green Energy Vocational Education Group, and is designated as China-Netherlands FCCD project training center. Successfully held the first China-Myanmar Forum on Forest Resources Protection and Community Development, a project of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cooperated with university of prince edward island of Canada in the joint training project of “2+2 college-to-undergraduate” double diplomas, signed a cooperation agreement on vocational education with the Vocational Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of Thailand and the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh, and carried out “order” training for international students, with 26 international students with academic qualifications from Laos, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Malaysia. In 2017, the school was awarded the “Top 50 International Influential Schools” in national higher vocational colleges.

In recent years, the College has won honors such as the National Party Construction Model Branch, the “Outstanding Contribution Award” of the National Vocational College Skills Competition, the outstanding social practice unit of “Three Rural Areas” of the national college student volunteers in summer vacation, the provincial civilized school, the advanced collective of higher vocational education in Yunnan Province, the top ten universities of Yunnan Province, the provincial safe campus, the provincial demonstration school of national unity and progress education, the provincial ecological civilization education base, and the Kunming garden unit.
