About Yunnan Police College

Yunnan Police college was founded in April 1950 (formerly known as Yunnan Public Security College). It has gone through historical periods such as the Public Security School of the Ministry of Public Security of Kunming Military Commission of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, the Public Security School of the Public Security Department of Yunnan Provincial People’s Government, the School of Political Science and Law Cadres of Yunnan Province, the Yunnan Provincial Public Security School, the Yunnan Provincial People’s Police School and Yunnan Public Security College. In 1978, secondary school education was started, in 1984, college education was started, and in April 2003, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college.

Up to now, the college has become a national training base for county and city public security chiefs, an anti-drug police training base of the Ministry of Public Security, a science and technology information education training base of the Ministry of Public Security, a police support training base of the Ministry of Public Security, a police training base in Southeast Asia, a national training base for county-level public security organs to enforce the law, a national martial arts level test point, a national training base for self-defense and self-defense and an examination and evaluation base for civil servants in Yunnan Province. Has been awarded the honorary titles of provincial spiritual civilization unit, Yunnan civilized school and Kunming garden unit. It was honored by the Ministry of Public Security as the first class merit, the second class merit and the third class merit twice. In 2013, he obtained the qualification of recruiting master degree graduate students in police affairs, and in 2014, he obtained the qualification of recruiting foreign students. In 2017, he passed the examination and evaluation of undergraduate teaching in ordinary universities, which achieved a historic breakthrough in the level of running a school and broadened the space for running a school.

The college has undergraduate majors such as narcotics control, law, public security, investigation, computer science and technology, criminal science and technology, traffic management engineering, economic crime investigation, public utilities management and social work. There are 9 party and government management institutions, anti-drug institute, anti-terrorism institute, criminal investigation institute, public security management institute, law school, information network security institute, graduate department and other teaching departments and 6 specialized student management institutions. The college is committed to the professional construction of public security science, public security technology, law and other disciplines, and forms and promotes the integrated talent training mode of “teaching, learning, practice and warfare”. There are criminal science and technology research institutes, anti-drug research institutes, judicial authentication centers and other scientific research institutions. There are scientific research platforms such as Yunnan Drug Research Base, Yunnan Anti-drug Research Center (provincial think tank) and Yunnan Anti-drug Education Base. The College adheres to the coordinated development of public security education and on-the-job police education and training, closely combines the overall deployment and phased tasks of the national public security organs, improves the construction of on-the-job police education and training system, and contributes to the public security work and the construction of public security team in the whole province and even the whole country.

Teachers and students have been commended for many times in the summer practice of “Three Rural Areas” of national college and technical secondary school volunteers. Pay attention to exchanges and cooperation with the interior ministries, police agencies and police education institutions of neighboring countries, Europe, America and Africa, and establish friendly relations with the Royal Thai Police Junior College, Cambodian Police Academy, Lao People’s Police Academy, Myanmar Central Police Training Academy, British Columbia Judicial College of Canada, Griffith University of Australia and other institutions to promote win-win cooperation. Maintain good exchanges and cooperation with many famous universities, police institutions and police education institutions at home and abroad. A total of nearly 3,000 senior law enforcement police officers in drug control, border management and traffic management have been trained for more than 70 countries in Asia, Europe, America, Oceania and Africa.

Since its establishment, the college has been aiming at cultivating socialist builders and successors with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor. So far, it has trained and delivered more than 80,000 specialized talents for political and legal public security departments at all levels in the province and 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) in China. Most leading cadres of 16 state (city) public security organs in the province and 129 county-level public security organs under their jurisdiction are college graduates or have received short-term and medium-term training in the college. At the same time, a number of outstanding hero models such as Ming Zhengbin, Chen Xinmin, Gong Zhihua, He Guihua, Yang Lisheng and Ke Zhanjun were trained. In recent years, various educational undertakings, such as the achievements of teaching reform, the quality of personnel training, the achievements of construction and development, and the practice of teachers and students serving the society, have developed rapidly in an all-round way. The results of running schools have been publicized and reported by Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, CCTV, China Education News, China Daily, People’s Public Security News, Yunnan Daily and other media.
