About Changchun University Of Technology

Changchun University of Technology (BUT) is a provincial key university with engineering as its main discipline and coordinated development of engineering, management, liberal arts, science, economics, law and art. Founded in 1952, Changchun Automobile Industry School was founded by the state in order to prepare for the establishment of China’s first automobile manufacturer. It has experienced the development stages of Changchun Technical College, Jilin Institute of Technology, Jilin Institute of Technology and so on. In June 1970, Jilin Institute of Technology merged with Jilin University of Technology and resumed in October 1978. In September 2000, Changchun Coal Industry School, Changchun Coal Management Cadre Institute and Jilin Province Light Industry Design School were merged. In March 2002, it was renamed Changchun University of Technology. In 1992, it was identified as one of the first three provincial key universities by Jilin Provincial government. In 2004, it was again identified as a provincial key university. In 2016, it was selected into the “Central and Western Universities Basic Capacity Construction Project”. In March 2020, it was selected into the construction project of Jilin Provincial Characteristic High-level Applied research University.

The university consists of two campuses, South Lake and North Lake, which are located on the banks of South Lake and North Lake in Changchun, covering an area of 1.252 million square meters. The campus environment is elegant, making it an ideal place for study and research. The university has 15 colleges and 59 undergraduate programs. There are 1 post-doctoral mobile station, 5 first-level discipline doctoral programs, and 20 first-level discipline master degree programs. There are 15 characteristic high-level disciplines in Jilin Province, including 3 first-class disciplines and 12 advantageous characteristic disciplines in Jilin Province. There are 10 national first-class undergraduate programs, 19 provincial first-class undergraduate programs, and 3 national “Excellence Program” pilot programs. The school has 23,059 enrolled students. Among them, there are 16,875 undergraduates, 3156 junior college students, 2876 master’s students, 125 doctoral students and 27 overseas students.
