I Turn my Carriage and Set Out

Anonymous

I turn my carriage and set out;

Along an endless road I pass.

I see a wilderness about;

The eastern wind shakes grass on grass.

I meet with no thing old at all.

Can I not olden nevertheless?

Every thing has its rise and fall.

Do not delay to win success!

Man is not made of metal or stones.

Can we live to hundred years old?

We’ll soon become a heap of bones.

Let’s value glory more than gold!
