Yangming Mountain when Cherry Flowers Fall

Zhou Mengdie

Welcoming with vague verdure,

The hermet’s pool shows its waterfall and snow pure.

Do you still remember the day last year

When luxuriant flowers did appear?

In the stone pavilion at ease

You vied in beauty with a thousand verdant trees.

Do not talk about Buddhism and poetry,

Nor about virtue,illness and melancholy!

Let no mountain spirit laugh at you!

The grass admits but dancers and butterflies in view.

……

Turn your head to the lost breeze.

Till the last drop of cold water will freeze!

Think of the sea where thousands of sails

Driven by stormy gales

Over the waves raised by white whales!

In whose hand is the fate of our tears?

In whose eyes do they swell these years?

Different at the start,

The same nuance at heart.
