About Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology

Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology is located in the golden city of Lanzhou, the geometric centre of China’s land area and on the banks of the beautiful Yellow River. The university was founded in 1956 as the Lanzhou Petroleum School of the Ministry of Petroleum, the Lanzhou Chemical School of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, the Lanzhou Refining Staff University and the Lanhua Staff University. In May 2021, the Ministry of Education approved the integration of resources from related institutions and the establishment of Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology at the public undergraduate level.

The university has Xigu Campus, Lanzhou New Area Campus and Baiyin Campus, covering an area of more than 2,600 mu, with an average teaching and research equipment value of 20,100,000 RMB per student and more than 2.6 million books. There are 85 on-campus training bases and 238 off-campus training and practice bases, including 6 national production-based training bases and 1 national virtual simulation centre.

There are more than 28,000 full-time students in the university, of which 800 are enrolled in the first undergraduate program. Among them, there are 4 national demonstration majors, 10 backbone majors, 2 majors of the national higher vocational school project to enhance the ability of professional services for industrial development, and 18 provincial demonstration, characteristic and backbone majors, building a professional layout system that effectively supports the national pillar industries and regional economic and social development. The university has become an important training base for high-quality technical and technical talents in petrochemical industry, natural gas chemical industry and coal chemical industry in China.

The university has obtained 1 national teaching achievement award, 14 provincial teaching achievement awards, 1 national quality course, 1 national curriculum thinking and government demonstration project, and 25 national planning textbooks. The university has taken the lead in hosting 1 national teaching resource library for vocational education.
