In the course of more than 70 years’ development, the school has always adhered to the school-running philosophy of “combining knowledge with practice”, constantly explored and kept pace with the times, and trained a large number of high-quality applied talents for Gansu’s economic and social development and basic education development.

The school has 14 teaching units, including College of Liberal Arts, College of Fine Arts and Design, College of Music and Dance, Art Vocational College (Gansu Art School), Tourism College, School of Economics and Management, School of Journalism and Communication, School of Media Engineering, School of Digital Media, School of Marxism, School of Education, School of Foreign Languages, School of Social Sports and School of Chemical Engineering. There are more than 11300 students, including more than 8700 undergraduates and 25 international students.

The school has three provincial key disciplines, including Chinese language and literature, tourism management and applied chemistry, and has been approved as one national first-class professional construction site, eight provincial first-class professional construction sites, one national first-class course and six provincial first-class courses. There are Chinese language and literature, mathematics and applied mathematics, applied chemistry, environmental design, music performance, music performance (aviation crew), digital media technology, journalism, financial management, preschool education, electronic information engineering, tourism management, drama, film and television literature, visual communication design, radio and television science, radio and television engineering, digital publishing, software engineering, investment science, dance performance, data science and big data technology. There are 36 undergraduate majors, including broadcasting and hosting, communication engineering, asset appraisal, ideological and political education, performance, translation, hotel management, materials science and engineering, cultural industry management, aviation service art and management, painting, digital media art, English, chemical engineering and technology, which involve 8 disciplines such as literature, engineering, art, management, economics, law, education and science.

The school has 6 provincial-level scientific research platforms, including Gansu Opera Talent Training and Stage Drama Development Collaborative Innovation Center 2011, Gansu Global Tourism Collaborative Innovation Center, Gansu Animation Engineering Technology Research Center, Northwest National Culture and Tourism Development Research Center, China Tower Cultural Research and Exchange Center, and Key Laboratory of Chemical New Materials, and 3 cultural and tourism strategic think tanks, including Gansu Tourism Think Tank Secretariat, Pamir Think Tank, Lanzhou University of Arts and Sciences Intangible Cultural Heritage Think Tank, Gansu Rural Tourism Innovation Research Team, and the large-scale mythical Longju. In recent years, teachers have completed more than 300 scientific research projects at or above the department (bureau) level, including more than 100 projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels. He has published more than 2,000 academic papers. Five works won the Dunhuang Literature Award, the highest literary and artistic award in Gansu Province, and two works won the 4th Gansu Literature Review Award.

There are 853 faculty members in the school, including 584 full-time teachers, 306 teachers with senior professional titles, accounting for 52.40% of full-time teachers, and 76.2% of full-time teachers with master’s degree or above. The school implements the Yanyuan Talent Project, combines external introduction and internal training, and introduces a group of highly educated and highly qualified talents; We hired 13 industry leaders such as national masters of arts and crafts, famous painters and painters, famous writers and winners of the Plum Blossom Award in Chinese opera as resident experts, and hired more than 90 high-level talents from various industries and disciplines as distinguished professor. Among them, two teachers were selected as members of the new Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, one was awarded the national model teacher, one was awarded the honorary title of “March 8 Red Flag Bearer” and one was awarded the National Outstanding Contribution Award for Sports.

The school adheres to the open development strategy and actively serves the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Carry out strategic cooperation with many cities in Xinjiang and Zhejiang, and cities and States in the province; Signed a counterpart support agreement with Communication University of China, signed an agreement with Lanzhou University to support the transformation and development of our school, and carried out various cooperation and exchanges with Shaanxi Normal University, Renmin University of China, Tongji University and other schools; Cooperate and exchange with more than 10 universities in Tajikistan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iran and other countries in the fields of scientific research and personnel training.
