郭靖和杨康纵马北行。杨康心中感慨不已:一日前命驾南来时左拥右卫,顿成一场春梦。他要设法通知完颜洪烈躲避,却又大費踌躇。郭崝只道他思念亡故的父母,不住相劝。

中午时分,到了溧阳,那边客店预备好了酒饭。菜肴十分丰盛,更有郭靖爱吃的口蘑煨鸡。两人吃得甚是畅快,起身会帐。掌柜笑道:“两位爷请自稳便,帐已会过了。”

郭靖投了当地最大的一家客店,拣了一问靠近帐房的上房,守到傍晚，只见一人走进店来,吩咐帐房明日预备酒饭迎接郛杨二人。仔细一看正是黄蓉,郭靖与她欣喜相见,叙说别情。

原来那夜黄蓉在太湖中耽了大半个时辰,挂念郭靖又回到陆庄。次晨躲在庄外树从之中,眼见郭靖与杨康井辔北去,于是抢在前头给他们安排酒饭。
