Nanjing Institute of Technology was formed in 2000 by the merger of two former state-level demonstration high-tech colleges key construction schools-the former Nanjing Mechanical College and the former Nanjing Electric Power College; in 2001, the former Nanjing Institute of Technology was merged into .

The school is located in Fangshan Scenic Area, Jiangning, covering an area of nearly 3,000 acres. There are currently 19 education and teaching units, with more than 24,000 full-time students, including more than 400 postgraduates. There are more than 2,000 faculty members.

The school actively carries out international cooperation in running schools, and has established long-term cooperation and exchange relationships with Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand and other countries. Jointly run schools with foreign universities such as the University of Sklyde in the United Kingdom, the Magdeburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the United States, and the Saxon University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. There are two Sino-foreign cooperative education projects established by the Ministry of Education with Northumbria University in the United Kingdom and the University of Oulu in Finland. Our school’s Sino-Finnish cooperative class is the first “4+0” model of dual-degree cooperative education project between Chinese and Finnish universities.
