出塞

[唐]王之涣

黄河远上白云间,

一片孤城万仞[1]山。

羌笛[2]何须怨杨柳[3],

春风不度玉门关[4]。

注释:

[1]万仞:一仞为八尺。此处形容山非常高。

[2]羌笛:羌人的一种管乐器。

[3]杨柳:折杨柳曲,曲调哀怨。

[4]玉门关:关名,古时为前往西域的要道。

Wang Zhihuan

The Yellow River rises to the white cloud;

The lonely town is lost amid the mountains proud.

Why should the Mongol flute complain no willows grow?

Beyond the Gate of Jade no vernal wind will blow.
