素肌应怯余寒[1]，
艳阳占立青芜地[2]。
樊川照日[3]，
灵关[4]遮路，
残红敛避。
传火楼台，
妒花风雨[5]，
长门[6]深闭。
亚帘栊半湿[7]，
一枝在手，
偏勾引、
黄昏泪[8]。
别有风前月底。
布繁英[9]，
满园歌吹。
朱铅[10]退尽，
潘妃[11]却酒[12]，
昭君乍起。
雪浪翻空，
粉裳缟夜，
不成春意。
恨玉容不见，

[1]“素肌”句：素肌，白色的肌肤，比喻洁白素雅的梨花。余寒，剩余的春寒，梨花开在晚春时节，所以这样来形容。
[2]青芜地：杂草丛生的地方。
[3]“樊川”句：樊川，汉武帝时的一个梨园。照日，与日光互相辉映。
[4]灵关：山名，在今四川宝兴县南。谢朓《谢隋王赐紫梨启》：“味出灵关之阴。”
[5]妒花风雨：杜甫《风雨看舟前落花戏为新句》：“影遭碧水潜勾引，风妒红花却倒吹。”
[6]长门：长门宫。汉武帝皇后陈阿娇失宠后所居之处。刘长卿《长门怨》：“何事长门闭，珠帘只自垂。……蕙草生闲地，梨花发旧枝。”
[7]“亚帘”句：亚，低垂的样子。帘栊（lónɡ），窗帘。栊即窗上的棂木。
[8]黄昏泪：刘方平《春怨》：“纱窗日落渐黄昏，金屋无人见泪痕。寂寞空庭春欲晚，梨花满地不开门。”
[9]繁英：繁盛茂密的梨花。
[10]朱铅：胭脂和铅粉。
[11]潘妃：南朝齐废帝东昏侯之妃，名玉儿，颜色洁美。东昏侯曾在宫内立店铺，以潘妃为市令，百姓歌云：“至尊屠肉，潘妃沽酒。”
[12]却酒：因为饮酒则生红晕，而梨花色白，故曰其“却酒”。却，推辞的意思。
[13]琼英谩好：琼英，玉色的花，指梨花。谩，空、徒然。

· To Pear Blossoms
Zhou Bangyan
To your white skin the lingering cold may do harm;
You stand on your green grass under the sun.
You shine on northern land and cover southern way,
You whom remnant reds would shun.
On Cold Food Day
The wind and rain would envy you,
The Long Gate closed anew.
The low-hanging window curtain half wet appears.
When you stretch a branch out as an arm,
The evening is moved to tears.
In breeze or moonlight quiet
Your blooms run riot.
When songs fulfill your garden place,
Unpowdered and unrouged is your face
Like the beauty before she drinks wine
Or the princess rising like sunshine.
In the air surge the waves snow-white,
Silken dress brightens the night.
Unequalled by other vernal flowers in tears,
When your jade-like face disappears.
Other flowers may be fair,
But with you none can compare.
