Author’s comments:
不同 This can have several meanings: “different”, “contrast”, “distinct”, all could work here albeit each paints its own scenery. Given the context below this line, it suggests “not conforming to what is deemed normal”
燃燒 To me there is a sense of intensity, not merely burning like a candle
只要別失控 literally: only not lose control”. 失控 (lose control) comes across more like “unbridled”, “freewheeling”, a riotous state once you enter into there is no way of regaining a grip. To me, intended idea has more to do with advocating self-reflection, having continual and intermittent corrections rather than continuous control at all times, hence I decided on “unchecked”, a bit like freewheeling downhill but tapping on the brakes now and then when needed.
歌頌 lterally: singing praises. The context suggests quite a bit more than just mere praising.
忠於選擇 Literally: loyal to choice. Again, I feel that context suggests a subtle escalation, 選擇 is not just a choice but a very deliberate decision or act of choosing; 忠 is not so much loyalty or faithfulness but a sense of determined singlemindedness.
想像和希望 Literally: imagination and hope. I see imagination narrowly applied to solving problems, getting out of a bind, “applied creativeness”, and given the “singlemindedness” I see earlier, it comes across as not any blank hope but a purpose driven desire.
逆著光 Literally against the light, which is a really odd notion, at least in Chinese and English. The author must mean walking into the light, towards the light. That is generally not big enough a deal (so what if you have the light behind you or facing you) to warrant describing unless the light is bright enough to prevent you from seeing where you are going. Thus I made it more explicit in my translation accordingly.
