Shenyang Urban Construction University, formerly known as Urban Construction College of Shenyang Jianzhu University, was founded in July 2000, and it has been approved as a formal independent university by the Ministry of Education in 2013.The university is a full-time undergraduate school that mainly trains application-oriented talents, with more than 13000 undergraduate and junior college students.The campus is located in the beautiful, historic and cultured city— Shenyang. The university lies in the centre of Hunnan district of “university town” which consists of multiple universities— Shenyang Institute of Science and Technology, Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Xinglin College, Northeastern University, Shenyang Sport University. Liaoning Provincial Library, Liaoning Science and Technology Museum, and Liaoning Provincial Museum are also within the area. It is located in the new administrative and educational area with convenient transportation, excellent research and innovation environment and cutting—edge energy saving facilities.
The campus covers an area of 616,000 square meters, with a building area of more than 400,000 square meters. The campus environment is beautiful. The teaching facilities are advanced, and the living facilities are complete.Here is the main teaching building, Yejing Building, which is all multimedia classrooms; The Sicheng Building and the Science and Technology Building are spacious; The International Student Institute and the University Student Activity Center echo each other at a distance; Luban Building is one of the important places for students to carry out practical teaching. The International Academic Exchange Center can meet the needs of various academic exchange activities inside and outside the school.The modern Hongde Library, built near the lake, has a collection of more than 1.174 million books, more than 200,000 e-books, 144 type of journals in Chinese and foreign languages, and 21,551 electronic periodicals. The international standard plastic playground and indoor playground are equipped with complete facilities, and students’ study and life are convenient and comfortable.
The school has nearly 700 teachers, including nearly 500 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 91.22% are teachers with master’s degree or above, 35.71% are teachers with senior professional titles, 22.65% are “double-qualified” teachers, and 43.06% are teachers with industry and engineering practice experience. Many teachers hold positions in national, provincial, municipal and other academic organizations and evaluation institutions, including famous teachers in Liaoning Province and well-known experts in the industry. The university adheres to open education and international cooperation, and has signed cooperation projects with many foreign universities such as Eastern Illinois University in the United States and University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom. It also actively established contacts with universities in South Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia and other countries, actively promoted international cooperation, further expanded international communication channels, and created a more diversified learning environment for students. The school actively carries out education for foreign students in China, and officially began to recruit foreign students in 2015.
