About Sichuan Conservatory Of Music

Sichuan Conservatory of Music was founded in 1939 as “Sichuan Provincial Experimental School of Drama Education”, and was renamed in 1959, becoming one of the six professional music schools with undergraduate education level at that time. The university has two campuses, Wuhou campus and Xindu Campus, covering an area of more than 1200 mu, with 26 teaching departments and 10 research institutions. The school covers postgraduate education, undergraduate education, junior college education, adult education and secondary art education, with an enrollment of more than 16,000 students. It is one of the 11 independent professional music schools in China.

With music and dance as the main subjects, the university has developed in a comprehensive and coordinated way, including art theory, drama and film and television, art and design. The construction of disciplines has been constantly improved, and the layout of disciplines has been continuously optimized. Provincial key disciplines are: composition, keyboard instruments, painting. The national first-class undergraduate majors are: music performance, Composition and technical theory of composition, recording art. Provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points: musicology, dance, painting, product design. Provincial application-oriented demonstration majors are: sound recording art, environmental design, product design. Provincial excellent teaching teams include: Teaching and Research Section of Composition department, Teaching and research Section of piano Department, Teaching and research Section of Orchestra and string music Department, Teaching and research Section of bel Canto department, Accordion electronic keyboard Department accordion teaching team. The university has three first-level master’s degree programs in Music and Dance, Fine Arts and Art Theory, and two professional master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Master of Education programs. In 2013, it was approved as postdoctoral Innovation practice Base of Sichuan Province.

The university now has 352 professional and technical personnel above deputy senior level, including 13 second-level professors, 12 experts enjoying special allowance of The State Council, 1 expert of the Ministry of Excellence, 13 academic and technical leaders of Sichuan Province, 5 experts with outstanding contributions of Sichuan Province, and 3 Outstanding Teachers of Sichuan Province. The school also has a teaching team composed of experts and professors who are passionate about art education and have achieved fruitful results. A large number of experts and scholars, such as chang Sumin, Yang Roulu, Zou Lu, Liu Wenjin, Lang Yuxiu, huang Huwei, etc. of the older generation of music educators have great influence at home and abroad.

The school has won 1 Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress award, 1 National Invention Award, 25 Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, 26 provincial Philosophy and Social Science Award, 33 “Golden Bell Award of Chinese Music”, 5 “Red Dot Award” of German Industrial Design, and 31 invention patents. In the past five years, the teachers and students of THE university have won 470 international awards and 1500 domestic awards in major international and domestic competitions and awards, including 85 national and provincial awards. Nine national research projects and 29 provincial and ministerial research projects were approved. He has published 167 books and more than 1500 academic papers. The university has a number of provincial key academic research platforms, such as “China-Central and Eastern Europe Youth Art Training and Practice Center”, “Digital Media Art Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province”, “Southwest Music Research Center”, “Sichuan Music Art Popularization Base” and “Chinese Traditional Music Research Institute”. Adhering to the policy of open education, THE university actively expands foreign exchanges and cooperation, attaches great importance to international academic and cultural exchanges, actively disseminates Chinese culture, organizes various international exchange activities at all levels, and participates in foreign affairs activities organized by the national and provincial party committees and governments. The university has established cooperative relations with more than 40 overseas universities and colleges in more than 10 countries, and has sent more than 300 students to study and study abroad. Every year, more than 200 undergraduates participate in various overseas exchange programs. The school began to recruit international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in 2003.

The university actively serves the overall situation of the center, vigorously carries out school-local cooperation, deeply participates in poverty alleviation, and helps local economic, social, cultural and educational development.
