I wonder if you are like me also thinking that dad is always so serious and it’s so hard to have a heart-to-heart talk with him.When I was a little kid, my dad used to ride a bicycle taking me to a new park and play with me every week.
But somehow, after I grew up we seldom talked to each other.
He never praised me and I never told him that I loved him.But fortunately before he passed away, we both said what was in our hearts.
I can never forget that one day when I was going to leave the ward in the hospital.
He suddenly called my name and remained silent for a few seconds.Then he said to me: You…you keep on fighting!
I nodded and turned away. Tears fell and wouldn’t stop.Afterwards I wrote a song for my dad.
I recorded its demo and played it to him.(Song)

Author’s comments:
As you may have noticed, that this song is written by Wu Qingfeng(吴青峰, lead singer, song writer of Sodagreen) for his late father. The song is very touching.
The singer is very imaginary about writing lyrics, because he likes using lots of unusual metaphors and quotes. Even for some Chinese people it’s hard to fully understand. So the translation may be a little Chinglish(for some words I can not find a proper translation), but otherwise the original grace would be gone.
Since there are no apparent tense markers in Chinese, the tenses in translation may be a little confusing. Just hold on to the spirit.
