秋兴
（八首其三）
千家山郭静朝晖，
日日江楼坐翠微[1]。
信宿[2]渔人还泛泛，
清秋燕子故飞飞。
匡衡抗疏[3]功名薄，
刘向[4]传经心事违。
同学少年多不贱，
五陵衣马自轻肥[5]。
第三首是第二首的延伸，紧接上文的暮色写晨曦中的夔州。诗人日日独坐江楼，秋色清明，江水宁静，带给诗人的却是烦扰不安。每当山城的千家百户还沉浸在朝晖中，自己却孤身一人坐在江边山楼上，看着留宿江中的渔船，总是在上下翻飞的燕子，流露出诗人烦恼的心情。颈联用典，汉元帝初时，日蚀地震，匡衡上疏，帝悦其言，迁为光禄大夫，太子少傅，建议亦常被采纳；东汉刘向，在朝历经三世，都得重用，对儒学传播起了很大的作用。诗人将自己与匡、刘对比，叹息自己一生事与愿违。尾联用同学多不贱反衬自己的落魄不得志。

Reflections in Autumn
(III)
Thousands of mountain cottages bathed in the twilight,
Each day by riverside I gaze on verdant scene.
Fishermen come to cast their net after the night,
And swallows flap their wings and flit in autumn green.
Disposed after my proposal, I don’t care for fame;
Studying classics, I am not yet a good hand.
Most of my young companions have made a fine name;
Splendidly clad, they ride splendid steeds on the land.
