Brief Introduction
Mount Fanjing is located in Guizhou Province. It is the main peak of the Wuling mountain range武陵山脉. It is a Buddhist temple and Nature Reserve in China. It is located in the middle of the Tongren region铜仁地区.
The total area of Mount Fanjing is 567 square kilometers, the heritage area is 402.75 square kilometers, and the buffer area is 372.39 square kilometers. The main protected objects are rarely wild animals and plants and native forest ecosystems represented by Rhinopithecus brelichi黔金丝猴 and Davidia involucrate Baill珙桐. The forest coverage rate is 95%. There are more than 2000 species of plants, 31 species of national protected plants, 801 species of animals, and 19 species of national protected animals. It is known as the “earth oasis”, “animal and plant gene bank” and “precious heritage of mankind”.
On October 17, 2018, Mount Fanjing was rated as a national AAAAA tourist scenic spot and a national nature reserve. On June 30, 2008, it was rated as one of the top ten famous summer mountains in China, the famous Maitreya Bodhisattva ashram in China, and a member of the international “man and biosphere protection network”.
On July 2, 2018, Fanjing Mountain in Guizhou Province, China was approved to be included in the world natural heritage list at the world heritage conference held in Manama, Bahrain.

History
Mount Fanjing is a famous cultural mountain with a history of more than 2000 years in the southwest. As early as the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Fanjing Mountain belonged to the state of Chu. In the Qin Dynasty, it belonged to “Qianzhong Commandery”, and in the Han Dynasty, it belonged to “Wuling Commandery”. Since then, it has been a sacred mountain and holy mountain worshipped by the Wuling people.
From the Longqing隆庆 period of the Ming Dynasty to the middle of the Wanli万历 period of the Ming Dynasty (1567-1588), after the Ming government suppressed the “Larshan Miao uprising腊尔山苗族起义” to the east of Mount Fanjing, it began to build the “Southern Great Wall” in the area and rebuilt the damaged Fanjing Mountain Buddhism for the first time.
Geography
Fanjing Mountain is also the region with the richest biodiversity in the same latitude in the world, known as the “gene bank of biological resources”. There are more than 7100 kinds of wild animals and plants here, and it is the only habitat of the Guizhou Golden Monkey. In 2018, Fanjing Mountain was listed as the 13th World Natural Heritage in China. In order to protect this pure land, in recent years, the local government has relocated nearly 2000 people along Fanjing Mountain outside the buffer zone, and the maximum daily tourist reception of the scenic spot is strictly controlled by 8000.
Attractions
Hongyun Jinding红云金顶: the peak rises from the ground, with a vertical height difference of 100 meters. The upper part is divided into two parts, connected by an overpass, and two temples are built on each side, one for Sakyamuni Buddha and the other for Maitreya Buddha. This confirms the alternation between the modern Buddha (Sakyamuni) and the future Buddha (Maitreya Buddha). In the morning, the auspicious atmosphere of red clouds often surrounds the surroundings, and it is called Hongyun Jinding.
Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the legend of Maitreya and Fanjing Mountain has been widely spread among the local people. The ancients built two halls of Sakya and Maitreya on the peak of the new Jinding, as the highest symbol of Fanjing Mountain Buddhism.
The first stone of Qianling mountain黔灵山: Fanjing Mountain on the western line. After reaching the meadow layer on the top of the mountain, a rare stone stands on the top mountain, like a thumb that praises people.
Mushroom stone: the name comes from the image. It is large and small and looks like a mushroom. It is about 10 meters high and has a history of more than 1 billion years. Mushroom stone is the subject of many painters and photographers.
Buddha light is a colorful halo that appears in the clouds and mist opposite the sun before 9:00 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. when it is clear after rain, with human shadows embedded in it. In the night when the fire is shining, there will be a projection that is dozens of times larger than a person in the thick fog, that is, a phantom.
The red flowers and green leaves of Fanjing Mountain are invincible all year round. Davidia involucrate Baill, Rhododendron, and Magnolia stand tall and graceful in the vast forest sea, opening in turns all year round. For hundreds of years, worshippers from all over the country have come to worship.
