东皋[2]薄暮[3]望，
徙倚[4]欲何依[5]？
树树皆秋色[6]，
山山惟落晖[7]。
牧人逐犊[8]返，
猎马[9]带禽[10]归。
相顾[11]无相识，
长歌怀采薇[12]。
注释：
[1] 王绩：隋末唐初的隐士。这首诗借景写隋亡唐兴之史，最后述怀，有心仕唐，可惜不得其门而入，诗人有怀才不遇之感。
[2] 东皋：地名，今山西河津，是作者的隐居之地。
[3] 薄暮：天色将晚时分。
[4] 徙倚：徘徊，彷徨。
[5] 依：依靠。
[6] 秋色：秋天树木凋零的景象。
[7] 落晖：落日的余晖。
[8] 犊：小牛，此处泛指家畜。
[9] 猎马：骑马的猎人。
[10] 禽：指鸟、兽等猎获物。
[11] 顾：看。
[12] 采薇：代指隐居生活。
A Field View
Wang Ji
At dusk with eastern shore in view,
I stroll but know not where to go.
Tree on tree tinted with autumn hue.
Hill on hill steeped in sunset glow.
The shepherd drives his herd homebound,
The hunter loads his horse with game.
There is no connoisseur around,
I can but sing the hermits’ name.
