桂楫[2]中流[3]望，
空波[4]两畔[5]明，
林开扬子驿[6]，
山出润州城[7]。
海尽[8]边阴静，
江寒朔吹[9]生。
更闻枫叶下[10]，
淅沥[11]度[12]秋声。

Crossing the Yangzi River
Ding Xianzhi
At midstream I rest on my oars,
And see clear waves brighten the shores.
Northern forest looks like a crown,
In southern mountains stands the town.
The sea ends by shady frontier;
The river’s cold with north wind drear.
I hear more falling maple leaves;
They drizzle as if autumn grieves.
