Pride of the Fishermen
V Farewell to Cheng Gongbi

Zhang Xian
By western city wall at dusk the grass grows green,
The western hills on hills where we met form a screen.
The swallows in the nest, flowers fall from the tree.
We drink wine cup in hand,
It’s hard to sail between the cliffs for our homeland
Your home at citygate and mine by riverside,
They are not separated by a river wide.
How deep your love to break a willow twig for me
It’s filled with spring,
A sprig to your home on the southern shore I’ll bring.

注释:
The poet bids farewell to a friend of his native place.
