Listen to this article徐灿，字湘蘋，又字明霞、明深，江苏吴县（今苏州市吴中区、相城区）人。陈之遴继配。幼颖悟，通书史。陈之遴两次流徙，均曾随行。康熙十年（1671），奉旨归之遴之骨。晚年学佛，更号紫?。早年雅好吟咏，尤喜为词。被词人陈维崧誉为南宋后闺秀第一。有《拙政园诗馀》《拙政园诗集》。

暖浅寒轻夜气和，
踏春红袂试纤罗。
月似美人慵欲睡，
晕横波。
懒逐香尘看火树，
自笺新调当笙歌。
半侧流霞三两爵，
不须多。

Xu Can
The warmth is faint, the chill light, the night air mild;
Picking a red dress for my spring jaunt, I try on sheer gauze.
The moon is like a languid beauty about to sleep,
Its halo diffusing waves.
Too idle to follow the fragrant dust or watch the splendid lights,
I write new verses in place of pipes and songs.
Half-leaning toward the flowing clouds, two or three cups
No need for more.
