名都篇
曹植
名都多妖女[1]，京洛[2]出少年。
宝剑直千金，被服丽且鲜。
斗鸡东郊道，走马长楸[3]间。
驰骋未能半，双兔过我前。
揽弓捷[4]鸣镝[5]，长驱上南山[6]。
左挽因右发，一纵两禽[7]连。
余巧未及展，仰手接[8]飞鸢。
观者咸称善，众工[9]归我妍[10]。
归来宴平乐[11]，美酒斗十千。
脍鲤臇[12]胎鰕[13]，寒鳖炙[14]熊蹯[15]。
鸣俦[16]啸匹侣，列坐竟长筵。
连翩击鞠壤[17]，巧捷惟万端。
白日西南驰，光景不可攀。
云散还[18]城邑，清晨复来还。
注释：
[1] 妖女：艳丽的女子。
[2] 京洛：指东汉都城洛阳。
[3] 长楸：古人在道旁种楸树，绵延很长，所以叫“长楸”。
[4] 捷：引。一作“挟”。
[5] 鸣镝：又叫“嚆矢”，就是响箭的镞。
[6] 南山：通常指终南山，这里指洛阳的南山。
[7] 两禽：指双兔，猎获的鸟兽都叫作禽。
[8] 接：对飞驰的东西迎面射击。
[9] 众工：指众善射者。
[10] 归我妍：称赞我射得好。
[11] 平乐：观名，汉明帝时造，在洛阳西门外。
[12] 臇：比较干的肉羹。这里用作动词，臇胎鰕就是用胎鰕做羹。
[13] 胎鰕：有子的魵鱼。
[14] 炙：烧烤。
[15] 熊蹯：熊掌。
[16] 鸣俦：与“匹侣”意同，指呼朋唤友。
[17] 击鞠壤：蹴鞠和击壤，这是两种古代的体育运动。鞠是毛球，玩时有用杖击。壤用两块木片制成，一头宽阔，一头尖锐，长一尺四寸，阔三寸。玩时将一块放三四十步以外的地上，用另一块扔过去打它。
[18] 还：又来到东郊、南山、平乐观这些地方取乐。
Song of the Capital
Cao Zhi
Ladies in capital are full of charms,
And gallant young men are skilful at arms.
My sword is worth its weight in gold, no less
Is worth my fashionable riding dress.
On eastern pathway I would watch cocks fight;
I run my steed between the poplars white.
I gallop when halfway I’ve not yet done;
I see before my horse two rabbits run.
Armed with my whistling arrows and long bow,
To the southern mountain swiftly I go.
My left hand holds the bow for my right to shoot,
At one blow two rabbits killed at my foot.
My skill not fully displayed, down I bring,
On looking up, an eagle on the wing.
All the spectators say I’m a good shot;
To my archery’s attributed a lot.
Come back, we feast in western hall and ask
For wine which costs ten thousand coins a cask.
We have rich soup of carp and braised shrimp meat,
Delicious turtle and bear’s paw to eat.
Friends are invited to take their seats among
Poets and songstresses at a table long.
We beat at the musical earthernware
In different ways, deftly here and there.
The sun runs fast and sinks in the southwest;
Thus time and tide will not wait for our guest.
Like cloud we scatter while bidding adieu;
Tomorrow morning here we’ll meet anew.
