Brief Introduction
Danxia Mountain (China Red Stone Park) is located in Renhua county 仁化县, Shaoguan City 韶关, Guangdong Province. With a total area of 292 square kilometers, it is the largest scenic spot in Guangdong Province, a scenic spot dominated by the Danxia landform 丹霞地貌 and a world natural heritage site.
Danxia Mountain is the name of the world’s “Danxia landform”. It is composed of more than 680 red gravel rocks with a flat top, steep body, and gentle foot. It is “as bright as the red peony and as bright as the bright clouds”. It is characterized by the red cliff of Chibi 赤壁. According to the research of geologists, among the more than 1200 Danxia landforms found in the world, the concentrated distribution area of Danxia landforms with the most typical development, the most complete types, and the most abundant shapes.
There are more than 680 large and small stone peaks, stone walls, stone columns, and Tiansheng bridges in Danxia Mountain; Danxia Mountain has the most detailed and in-depth research on the stratum, structure, geomorphic performance, development process, force effect, natural environment, and ecological evolution in the Danxia geomorphic area in China. It has become a research base of Danxia geomorphology in China and even the world, as well as a base for popular science education and teaching practice.
Since its development in 1988, Danxia Mountain has been listed and rated as a national scenic spot, a National Nature Reserve, a national geopark, and a national AAAAA tourist scenic spot. On February 13, 2004, it was approved by UNESCO as one of the first world geography parks in the world; In 2010, it was listed on the world heritage list.

Danxia Mountain’s scenic area is located on the southern slope of the Nanling Mountain 南岭山脉 range, which belongs to the southern edge of the subtropical zone. It has long summer and short winter. It is cloudy and rainy in spring and summer, less precipitation in autumn and winter, and cool and crisp in autumn. Danxia Mountain’s scenic area is a monsoon area. Because it is relatively far from the ocean, it is rarely directly damaged by typhoons. Basically, it is only affected by the low-pressure circulation around typhoons.
On the mountain on the left side of the Jinjiang River 锦江(a tributary of the Yangtze River 长江), there is a pavilion called the Viewing Pavilion 观景亭. Climbing the pavilion along the stone steps, you can have a panoramic view of the surrounding scenery. Looking forward, there are sister peak 姐妹峰, thumb peak 拇指峰, and teapot peak 茶壶峰. The teapot peak resembles a teapot. The lid and spout are all ready, except for the handle of the teapot.
Presbyterian peak 长老峰 tourist area is the oldest tourist area. It is the three most typical red cliff Danxia landscape levels composed of three peaks, namely Presbyterian peak, Conch peak 海螺峰, and Baozhu peak 宝珠峰, and three-level cliffs and three-level cliffs.
Shuanzhaobihe 双沼碧合 is located on the right side of the middle-level scenic area, under the original Zhengqi Pavilion 正气阁. There is a huge stone more than three meters high rising here, which looks like a platform. There are two stone pools chiseled on the platform, one large and the other small, which are shaped like two mirrors. Therefore, it was also called a “double mirror pool 双镜池”.

Shatian pomelo 沙田柚 in Danxia Mountain is a top-grade pomelo, belonging to the Rutaceae family. It is an evergreen tree with thick leaves, outspread leaves, and large clusters of flowers. The fruit is broad obovate, mature in late autumn, light orange, and resistant to storage. The flesh of the fruit is sweet but not sour, with a delicate fragrance. Because the climate and soil here are no different from Shatian in Guangxi, the shape, flesh, sweetness, and fragrance of the fruit can be compared with Shatian pomelo in Guangxi. Danxia Mountain and surrounding towns and villages have been introduced in large quantities, especially Xiafu village 夏富村.
Shiitake mushrooms in Danxia Mountain have the characteristics of short stalks, thick meat, and tenderness and smoothness. They are traditional export products. Shiitake mushroom is rich in nutrition and contains 7 kinds of amino acids necessary for the human body. It has the functions of lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, preventing liver disease, and assisting in the treatment of gastric cancer.
The tofu in Danxia Mountain is a thin porcelain three-legged shallow disc with a slight convex in the middle. It is filled with white, tender, and crystal tofu cake, and poured with a spoonful of shrimp eight delicacies on the surface. It tastes tender as fat, fresh, smooth, and fragrant. In fact, the tender white tofu paste is not a bean product but is steamed with fresh egg white and seasonings.
