Wounds of War

Light–light like paper; light scattering on the land; light that hurries in the gradual applause,
she sings of the pain she cannot bear.
The script is on the stage, performing the final scene,
and all the people in the village are sitting down and quietly watching. How does time desert the theatre?
The flames of war defiles her glistening tears; who makes noise to eat sweets?
The dust in the beginning scene of this story has already covered the sun–bang!

Fear is carved on the children’s faces;
the wheat fields fall in the direction of the passing tanks.
The shape of dandelions drift; a flight of despair.
She only sings and thinks of these wounds of war.

The evil night burns the candlelight; the day breaks the news of the chaos of war.
The song of the young dead spread a thousand miles; the homeland is like a famine.

Innocence falls and hits on the road;
she’s cut by silvergrass.

What shapes do the hopes in children’s eyes take?
Is it waking up to have bread for breakfast, or to drink hot soup again?
Farmers burned with their villages finally raise arms,
but she slowly gets used to giving up resistance.

What shapes do the hopes in children’s eyes take?
Is it a garden with a swing shaking away, or having candy in their pockets?
The light on bayonets is polished off by hatred in a faraway barbarity,
and she weakly smiles, not knowing confusion.
